Looking for a Playgroup in the Beaverton Area

Hello,
I am hoping to form or join up with a group of parents and kids in the Beaverton area. I have two daughters, one is 4 (almost 5) years and the other is 16 months. I have lived in Beaverton for about 7 months now and aside from one other mom from my daughter's preschool class, I don't have any other friends to spend time with (and neither do my kids). It would be great to meet up and have a chance to socialize and meet some families in the area. Let me know if you're interested!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I want to thank everyone who responded to my request for Beaverton area playgroups. I'm sorry I didn't respond individually to everyone, but I did get a lot of ideas and hope to meet some of you at various events and get-togethers. After reading all the suggestions, I have joined the Washington County Moms meet-up group on meetup.com and am looking into joining the local MOMS club. If there are others in this area who are still looking for people to play/chat with, look into these groups and maybe we can meet that way! Thanks again!

Welcome to the area! My family moved here about 8 months ago and I'm also looking for ways to get connected. I am a stay at home mom in the Beaverton/Aloha area and I have a 22 month old boy and another on the way the end of May (girl). Maybe if there is enough of us looking we can just start meeting somewhere?? I love the idea of meeting other moms...and kids too! Let me know what you think!

You can look up MOMS Club at www.momsclub.org and depending on where you live you can join North Beaverton http://www.geocities.com/momsclubbeaverton/ or Portland West Hills http://www.geocities.com/portlandwesthillsmoms/ these websites are the clubs home pages and has the contact info to join their get togethers. I love my moms club and wouldn't have survived a state-to-state move without them. They have children of all ages with playgroups, activities and support for moms.

Hi L.--
There is a fabulous group called MOMS (stands for Moms Offering Moms Support) Club. We were members when we first moved here--when my son was ~9months and I didn't know a soul. We were members for 4 years until my son outgrew it. We made some really wonderful friends. It's such a great group of women and children. There are two groups of MOMS Club in the Beaverton area. Here is the main web link. www.momsclub.com. Also, here is the link to the group we belonged to: www.geocities.com/portlandwesthillsmoms
There is also a beaverton group for those living further south in beaverton: www.geocities.com/momsclubbeaverton
They all have play groups.
Good luck!
A.

There are a few West area playgroups off of meetup.com. Here are some links:

http://moms.meetup.com/2597/

http://moms.meetup.com/1568/

There are other ones that are centered in Portland, but have playgroups in the surrounding areas. You can look those up on meetup.com as well. We live in Hillsboro, and have met a lot of moms through those groups. I am also part of a yahoo group that supports babywearing. The main website for all the local groups is www.nwbabywearers.org. Our group is Slingbabes. We have meetings here on the west side.
Welcome to the area! My husband and I moved up here a few years ago (me from CA, him from AZ), and we LOVE it. We love it the most in the spring and summer, though. So many things to do! Feel free to contact me if you would like to hang out, or if you need advice on good places to go with kids. :)
Peace,
E.

Welcome L.!

What part of Beaverton are you in? I'm in Lake Oswego and a group of us have been meeting at the West End Building, just off Hwy 217 on Kruse Way. It's an open play area for kids (I think 5 and under?) on MWF from 9:30-11:30am. Check out Lake Oswego's Park and Rec web site for more info:

Good luck,

Hi L.,
We are very active in 3 playgroups through meetup.com, but would definetly be interested in an in home playgroup. We live in Beaverton, just south of Aloha. My daughter is almost 5 and baby #2 is due in July. I am also involved in a women's organization called Beta Sigma Phi, and our group is very family related, as we are all in our 30's with smaller children. There are a lot of options out there-- and lots of fun things to do!!

You should join the MOMS Club. It is an international organization that has individual chapters in each area. Go to www.momsclub.org to find the contact person for the group in your area. They can also give you a little idea about what the club has to offer (lots of different socialization options).

Hi there! I am a stay-at-home mommy of 3 little ones in the Hillsboro area. My little ones are 4, 2 and almost 5 months. I am new to this website and think it is a great way for moms to get in touch with other moms. If you are still looking for a play group, my kidos and I are at home quite often since my oldest does not yet attend school, and we would love to find little ones to play with (and it would be great to get a chance to chat with an adult...heehee). My oldest two are girls, and our youngest is a boy, by hubby flies for a charter company and works a ton, so our schedule is normally pretty open, however I do watch a little boy on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would love to meet you, and my girls always love to play with other kids! Let me know if you are interested in getting together.

Take care!!!

Have you looked into the MOMS Club? It was the best for me and my toddler. I know there are, at least, two Beaverton clubs. We could choose to attend two-three activities a week, Mom's night out once a month and several couples events per year. Many of the members moved to this area when their husband's job changed. It helped me, too, when I needed emergency childcare for a day--most childcare centers won't accept one-day contracts. My daughter knew my MOMS Club friends as her friends, too. She was safe and I could attend to the emergency without a worry. I returned the favor and everything was great. It's been a while (my daughter is 12 now), but I bet you can still reach a local group at www.MOMSclub.org. I'm from Hillsboro. Our group is listed in the Argus newspaper, too. You might also try those free "family" newspapers at the library for locating MOMS or similar groups. Mothering was so much more fun shared with a diverse group of other moms. B. VK

Go to www.momsclub.org and find the chapter in your area. I am the president of one of the four Vancouver chapters and have been a member since I have lived in California. Each chapter is different, but most have babysitting co-ops, play groups, mom's night out, tours, holiday parties and the dues are only around $24 a year.

Best,
M.
