First off, the bumper sticker question has me cracking up!!

Secondly, I decided to have a surprise birthday party for my husband this weekend. He is getting homesick, so I thought it would be fun to have some friends over, like 15 people.

What are you favorite things to serve at a party? I am not doing any main courses, just finger food type stuff. It will be at 3.

I am already thinking of garlic herb knots, cheese bites, dutch cheese and crackers, veggies with dip, strawberries and whip cream, and of course a cake.

What are you favorite finger foods to serve at a party?

So What Happened?

Alright.. this is all making my mouth water. When are we all getting together for a food party!?! =)

I like making my own stuff instead of buying it. I feel like it tastes way better, or else I would just go crazy at costco =)

I am going with the knots, cheese bites, cheeses with french bread, bite-size calzones, veggies with a ranch dip, strawberries with whip, grapes, bite-sized chicken with feta and tomatoes on mini skewers, an olive/ garlic tapenade, and maybe brownie bites.

Food party soon anyone? =)

Oh yea those cream cheese things!! Take 2 8 oz pkgs cream cheese and mix a dry pkg of ranch in, and a bunch of green onion tops. Spread on tortillas and roll them up and cut in bite size pieces. They are yummy!! You can also add other things to them also. We also like little smokies!!

I'm thinking along the same lines as you are ... I've been wanting to do a party spread that you lay out beautifully on a table ... chunks of various cheeses w/ cutting knives, loaves of french and sour doughs, crackers & various spreads, grapes and other finger fruits, salami & other prepared meats, pates, etc. I also saw a delish skewer the other day: feta chunks, tomatoes, cubed chicken drizzled in balsamic or Italian. You know, a chacuterie spread!

I love to make caprese skewers - basically grape tomatoes, a bit of mozzarella and a bit of basil skewered onto a toothpick. I place them on a platter and drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. You can just pop them into your mouth.

I love small wraps.

I take a tortilla, and spread cream cheese on it, then any lunch meat, lettuce, and shredded cheese.
Then roll it up, and cut it into 1 inch slices and serve.

Always a hit anytime I bring them anywhere.

Have fun!

We love stuffed mushrooms. Tonight I was at an event that had halved strawberries and a jalapeno cream.

People seem to like a 7-layer dip, with tortilla chips. Look up the recipe online, it begins with refried beans, then guacamole, sour cream, cheeses, olives, tomatoes, onions, etc. Make ahead and chill in refrigerator on a big platter or plate, and then put it on the table and surround with chips. Always a hit at my parties. Have fun!

my sister just made this dip called Buffalo Chicken dip. Don't have the recipe but it was FANTASTIC. It had cream cheese in it, shredded chicken, and franks hot sauce and you keep it warm in a crock pot. There may be more ingredients....i am sure their is a recipe on the internet.

The things that always go quickly at my parties are shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, lumpia eggs rolls with sweet chili sauce (Trader Joes), spinach and artichoke dip with bread or pita chips (served hot or cold from Costco), and sushi (California rolls from grocery store or Costco). Add the obligatory fruit, veggie and cheese/salame/cracker platters and you should meet most dietary needs. All these thing can be bought in small or large quantities to fit your needs and require little or no cooking.

Try the Betty Crocker and Kraft websites for great appetizers. BC has a great hot artichoke and cheese dip that you make in a crock pot. Takes 5 minutes to put together for a big batch of dip. We also love to take a layered bean dip to parties. Easy to make.

deviled eggs
fried chicken or BBQ chicken
chips and dips
BBQ ribs (smoked on a real grill with real wood smoke, not in a crock pot smothered in BBQ sauce.)
pulled pork smoked on a grill before being put in a crock pot
grilled steak cut in bite sized pieces.
shrimp and a bowl of shrimp cocktail sauce.
brick of cheese cut up in cubes. I like sharp cheddar best.
cream cheese mixed with strawberry jam with saltine crackers near by.

Good luck to you and yours.
Hope you have a lot of fun.

If you have a dutch oven you can make a super easy pot of pulled pork sliders. Get boneless pork country ribs or shoulder. Cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes. Brown in pot with oil, then add the mixture to your favorite pulled pork recipe. Pour it and and let it stew for about 2 hours. Stir and mix up every 20 min so the pork pulls apart naturally. Serve with those Hawaiian king rolls and BBQ sauce. Yum!! We did this for a party and it was a hit!! And you're not in front of your webber for 7 hours and then pulling the meat apart which takes forever.
