Painful Ovulation - Waterbury,CT

I have always been able to feel ovulation, ever since I was a teenager. It was great when we were trying to conceive, but over the years its been getting worse. I've seen my OB/GYN, and I've had blood work done and numerous ultrasounds. Everything looks fine. My last ultrasound to check my ovaries, was just about a year ago. I conceived my 3rd child just a week after it was done. The pain stopped during my pregnancy and while I was nursing around the clock. Now that my 3 month old sleeps just about through the night, the pain has returned, and I am assuming that means my period will be coming back soon. (BUMMER)
My GYN suggests I take birth control pills to stop ovulating, and thus stop my pain. I'm not really interested in taking any type of hormones. Especially since I am nursing. I havent taken birth control for 10+ years.

I looking for a more natural approach to deal with this discomfort. Any suggestions??

What can I do next?

There is actually a condition called middlesmertz (sp) which I also have and its where you can feel ovulation which helped me with both my kids and bc has helped I don't feel the ovulation anymore, although Ive always wondered if I could get off the medicine because it does jack with my hormones pretty bad and just count on my body to tell me when to not conceive or when to but I am content with my family of 4 that I am on bc until my husband gets a vasectomy. All I could do was take tylenol or motrin and treat them like normal period cramps. They are a blessing when you want them but a pain in the butt when you dont. I've heard that exercise will help kinda like when you are cramping during your cycle. But who really wants to exercise when you feel like that right? Research middlesmertz online and maybe they have a way to deal with it naturally.

Ask your doctor if it could be PMDD. It certainly could if you are experiencing a worsening of other PMS symptoms. I have PMDD and my doctor was able to give me something (NOT b.c.) that has really helped. I too have always been able to feel ovulation/conception/implantation etc. (my husband didn't believe me and VOILA - welcome my son! lol!)

Edit: I'm also BFing and I'm able to take the meds my GYN gave me for the PMDD without any negative effects.

Endocreme progesterone cream helped with me. Use it every day except during your period. If you're trying to conceive, you'll use it after ovulation.

I'm just like you. I've had ovulation pain my entire reproductive life except when pregnant and nursing. I've tried the BCP - but that wasn't for me. I've the same tests as yours, I'm all normal..it's just that excruciatingly painful ovulation. It is so intense it can send me to the floor or to bed for hours.

So, I started using Evening Primrose Oil...this has helped with overrall PMS and I always take a Motrin/Advil type of product during ovulation. Nothing else helps with the cramping like ibuprofen. It is not my first choice, but it really does help me get through that day or two.

I have also tried the progresterone cream, but do not recall much of an improvement specifically for ovulation pain.

I'm close to 50, and am still very regular. So good idea that you're planning ahead.
