I have PCOS and I have to children by way of infertility drugs. It took the same amount of time as it take a female without PCOS to get pregnant. It's a balance in diet and infertility drugs for me. I ate healthy and at the same time every single day to keep my sugar level down. So, I dropped weight and got pregnant at the same time. I took clomid one month and the next month I took the test and I was pregnant. I do not have monthly cycles and do not Ovulate. I have had PCOS since I was 13 years old. I started picking up the extra weight as it got worst due to the insulin resistance which people with PCOS are. My second daughter I was a bit impatient and wanted to be pregnant right away so I did FSH shots and was pregnant the next month. Are there any specific questions you would like to know?

I was diagnosed in 2000. My husband and I tried for 4 years to get pg. We did the shots and charts. I even had ovary drilling, which is where they use a laser beam and drill tiny holes in your ovaries so the egg can be released. It was a really painful procedure. They said I should be pg within the year. I wasn't. A year and half later I stopped all treatments and changed doctors. My new GYN told me that I didn't have to do anything special. Her advice was to relax. I was pg less than 2 months later! My daughter was born Nov. 17th 2005. She is the most wonderful gift! And well worth all the waiting and pain I endured to get her! My advice to you is never let a doctor tell you that you can't get pg without "help". Nothing is impossible. If your doctor isn't giving you answer, find a doctor who will. Good luck to you! All things all possible!

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 18. I currently have two beautiful children (5yo boy and 2yo girl) with the help of fertility medication. The fact that you have a child already will help your odds of having future children. I would ask about progesterone support if your lutuel phase is shorter than 14 days. If you have tried for 6-12 months and haven't gotten pregnant your doctor will want to try clomid therapy (remember to use ovulation prediction kits and have progesterone level drawn 7 days post ovulation). This helps a lot of PCOS patients. My successful pregnancies were with a combination of clomid, repronex (injectable), and progesterone.

M.,
Here's my story. I'm 34 and overwieght. I had a miscarriage in 01/2001. I saw Dr.Gnam in the ER. I didn't even know that I was pregnant. I had never had a problem with my period up until that point. He referred me to Dr. Waddell(Flowood,MS) who worked in the same office with him. I went to him and of course he put me on birth control pills. I was not able to take them. They made me sick. What really made me mad about him is that he gave me his home number in case I had a problem with the pills(because I had never taken any before) so when I was dizzy and nauseated I called. He was pissed off that I had called him. I was so mad. So I then went to Dr.Wooley(Clinton,MS). He gave me some different birth control pills that still made me sick so when I went back and told him he yelled at me and told me I just need to take these pills. I said screw you I'll find another doctor. So I went to East Lakeland OBGYN and saw Shani Meck.(And through all this time I was having irregular bleeding. I would just bleed and it wouldn't stop until they gave me provera.) So I went to Shani Meck and she diagnosed me with PCOS but she did tell me that birth control pills would help but since I can't find any that don't make me sick that I could take provera. I had to take clomid to get pregnant and I did have a successful pregnancy. And I would do it all again to have my beautiful baby girl! But I still have problems with my period. I'm not taking anything right now. I tried YAZ when it came out and it didn't make me sick at all but it only worked for a month and then my periods got crazy again. But at this moment I'm O.K. Are you overweight? Just curios. They say that being overweight makes PCOS worse. I am but I have lost 30 pounds in 2 months. I don't know that I really helped you but at least you know your not the only one out there with it.

I am 46 years old and I have PCOS. I didn't start trying to have children until I was 33. We tried for for a year or so until we decided to seek help with fertility treatment. At this time I had not had a cycle in 10 months. Long story short, we decided to try invitro and it worked on the first try. We froze the remaing embryos and got pregnant again on the second try five years later. I would love to answer any questions you have. Just email me direct.

I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years after the birth of my second daughter. My doctor did tell me that it could reverse itself at any time. I was told to take better care of myself and too lose some weight. We went through battles with my cycle (having too many cycles in a month to not having one at all). The doctors tried giving me birth control pills to regulate it, but that just made me have a 2 week cycle every month. 2 years after I was diagnosed I got pregnant with my son. So, it is possible to get pregnant after being diagnosed with PCOS. You just have to take good care of yourself and pray. We weren't even trying to have another child. We were perfectly happy with stopping at 2, but God knew we really need our son. He has truly been a blessing.

I will pray for you and ask God to bless you with the child that you seek.

God Bless
KC
