Me and My husband havnt really been trying to get pregant the last 3yrs but havent had any luck either. We have one daughter who is 4 1/2 we didnt even try with her, she was a "Suprise". I have several issues on getting pregant, I am overweight, Have a "tilted" uterus, and recently diagnosed with PCOS. For the last month we have been trying and just having fun with it. I do not have Insurance at the moment, due to change in job policy. I am Taking Ortho Micronor which is a birth control that was one type of hormome and if you dont take it every day at the same time you have a higher chance of getting pregant, I am only taking it to ovulate, so i am not taking it everyday or at the same times. Any suggests, I was thinking of buying a Ovulation Test. Let me know any adivce will be apprechated.

What can I do next?

I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Jon Ricks for both PCOS and infertility. Also - the Dollar tree sells ovulation tests for a dollar.
Best of luck!!

It could be the PCOS that is causing the problem. I was on metformin and did one cycle of chlomid and got pregnant with my son. I was slightly overweight and I have PCOS. Many insurance ocmpanies don't cover infetility treatment and it cant get expensive. However, the metfomring in not that expensive and neither is the chlomid.
I tried the ovulation test and the only thing it did for me was to let me know that I wasn't ovulating.
Good Luck....I know that it can be very difficult and trying on the emotions.

I know what your going through. Myself as well as my sister were both diagnosed with PCOS years ago. My sister went through years of infertility shots, meds as well as invitro (4 times) never getting pregnant. I met a woman by coincidence who told me she is not a diabetic but tried the American Diabetes diet and became pregnant. I personally thought, what the heck give it a shot, witin 3 months, with no meds, I became pregnant! Poof, a daughter was born. When I wanting another, started the diet again, poof....son was born. That convinced my sister, she started the diet, witin 2 months, Poof she became pregnant, unfortunately she had a car accident and miscarried, however, I truly believe that diet is what did it. If you go to PCOS.org.......you can get a more clear picture of why this diet works so well. Good luck and god bless.

As soon as you get insurance again, see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. If you have been diagnosed with PCOS, don't mess around with "just trying." If you are not naturally having a menstral cycle, then you are not ovulating.

Have you ever tried a cleansing program? Check it out, I have heard it has helped others. It will help with the weight for sure, but will also remove toxins from your body which is making any problems.
www.kristinestell.isagenix.com
Isagenix doesn't make any medical claims, the just have the products to help cleanse and give your body good nutririon, so it can be the miracle it is suppose to be.

Start trying ten days after your period starts, have sex every other day for ten days. I was told this at the center for assisted reproduction when they told me we had a 5
percent chance. My daughter turned ten months old last week. I wasn't overweight, but I 42.

C., first of all you should consult your obgyn about your desire to become pregnant. If you have been diagnosed with PCOS your ob will know what to do or they will send you to a Reproductive Endocrinologist to help you. Are you ovulating? I know many women with PCOS do not ovulate. Have you tried using the Fertility Awareness method, for more info go to www.ovusoft.com or get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility, by Toni Weschler (great info) If you are not ovulating your obgyn or Fertlity specialist may put you on clomid which will help you to ovulate. Please, Please see your obgyn and ask your questions there since everyone is different and I would hate for you to get the wrong advice about something so important as fertility. Oh, I also know that sometimes ovulation predictor kits don't always work for those with PCOS (written on the box, certain conditions) I hope things work out for you.

Some good advise given. I technically don't have PCOS, but my body does the same thing only having a few periods a year. My doctor treated me like a PCOS patient when we started trying to have kiddos. She put me on Glucophage (technically a diabetes mediciation). There are only off-label studies done in helping women with PCOS become pregnant. It took a few months of being on the medication, but then I became pregnant. If you do start the medication, taper up on it slowly. This is a very inexpensive thing to try before you go to the more expensive options through a Reproductive Endo. The Ovulation kits never worked for me. Also, the suggestion to do the Diabetes Diet is a wonderful idea. Good Luck!

Hi C.,

My husband and I have used Natural Family Planning (Creighton Model) since we've been married. We started taking classes when we were engaged. It's what the catholic church teaches (although a very small percent actually do it.) It works! There are no pills, no temperature taking, it's not "the rythm method" as many think. There are a lot of misconceptions about it, but it has a higher success rate than the pill for avoiding pregnancy and a very high success rate for achieving. We got married 7/12/03 (what a coincidence- same date) and we avoided pregnancy until we wanted to have a baby. We were shooting for 7/06, but got 8/06- pretty darn close (and we realized where we made our error in hindsight to miss it by that month.) My husband even had made a bet when our son would be born years before and people thought he was crazy-he won. I don't know what PCOC is, but Dr.'s thought I might have trouble conceiving (possible endometriosis and I have a tilted uterus, small pelvis...) but we didn't. You do have to spend a little money at first to take the classes, but once you know it, it's free for the rest of your life. Plus, you'll know the basics after just one class. I really highly recommend this method. Check out www.creightonmodel.com for more info or feel free to ask me. I've been using it for 5 years.

I only ask because you said you don't have insurance, but are you taking Ortho Micronor irregularly to ovulate on purpose because a doctor said to? That seems a little strange to me. I have a family medical background and it took almost 3 years for us to get pregnant so I have been around the block when it comes to infertility. With PCOS, women are sometimes prescribed Metformin and Clomid to help them ovulate more regularly. I've never heard of taking birth control irregularly to ovulate. If you aren't able to speak with a doctor about getting pregnant, try fertilityfriend.com, which is a great source of information and a well-informed community of people that can give you advice.
Best of luck!

If you decide to consult with an infertility specialist, Dr. James Douglas in Plano helped me to successfully have 2 sets of beautiful twins. It took me six years and several pregnancies, but I have a wonderful family. Dr. Douglas has a very high success rate. You can check out his web site. It's not cheap. Most insurance does not cover most of the infertility treatments, anyway. It will cover some of the lab costs and blood checks and x-rays, sonograms that come along with trying to get pregnant, but not the cost of the actual IVF surgery. But you may not require surgery - it's hard to know; but the specialist will be better at guessing the right combination to get you pregnant. For example, I had low progesterone which caused me to have trouble carrying the pregnancy for a while, due mostly to my age, so he gave me progesterone shots through the 3rd month. Good luck.
