Orlando with an 18 Month Old

I'm going to Orlando next week with my parents (mid 60's) and my 18-month-old daughter. My parents and I have already been to Disney a number of times, and I think my daughter is too young to enjoy it. Does anyone have any suggestions of other places to go or things to see that will be fun but still appropriate for all 4 of us? Fortunately, my folks are still in pretty good health and mobile.

We went to Orlando when my daughter was around that age. I had afriend who worked at disney and could get us in free with guest passes :) but it wasn't entertaining for my daughter. Not surprising to us. We went to Sea World another day and she absolutly loved it!! Sea World is more than just s big aquarium. They have shows that are free and lots of things to see. My daughter absolutly loved the dolfin and whale shows and didn't mind the sea lion shows. There was a also a sesame street area, but we didn't get there. If your daughter is anything like mine, Sea World is definatly worth the money and was fun for us all.

We took our daughter to Sea World at around that age....we thought she was too young for Disney too, and didn't think it would be worth the price to go. Sea World was totally entertaining for her!

HI C. , we took our kids there the past 2 yrs . Now 5, 4 and 19mnths . My sons had a blast and still talk about M.M . We stayed at the contemporary and decided to get to the parks early as possible , then came back for lunch .Which allowed the kids to nap for a few hours . Just going with the flow verses planning ahead was worth it for us . We spent the majority of our time at magic kingdom more age appropriate rides . 1 thing to remember there hundreds of other parents there thinking the same thing as you . Have a great time with the family and take lots of pictures

We took our son to Sea World at that age and he really enjoyed it. There's also Discovery Cove which is wonderful, but on the pricey side and you need to make reservations ahead of time so you might not be able to get in. Have a great trip!

When my daughter was that age, we took her to Downtown Disney since it was free. She had a blast just looking at everything. Her favorite place was the amphitheatre area - it was empty so she could wander around, playing on the benches.

We took our son to Florida when he was the same age. I also thought Disney was going to be a bit too much for an 18 month old. We went to Sea World - and it was GREAT! He loved it. The park isn't too big, there was plenty he could do - look for the kid area that has a carousel and sandbox areas. There is also a sprinkler area that he had a GREAT time at - bring a change of clothes or a swimsuit for your little one! My son loved the Shamu show and all the fish exhibits. It was really a fun day.

I've taken my son to FL at 18 months and every year thereafter. Seaworld is nice...but living so close to a great Aquarium/oceanarium it didn't seem worth a trip to FL for us. We loved Disney and find different things to do at every age we go with him. Animal Kingdom is really neat, its cooler with lots of shade and fans. My son loved the train ride and the safari ride....the animals roam around you and are so close at times you can touch them. They also have a dino area with a playground and a "dig" site with "stickless sand". Magic Kingdom is wonderful for that age also. There are many rides you can go on with your daughter, Pooh's spot has squirters and a play area, there is a boat ride and a train ride. The parades can't be beat if your daughter has any favorite characters. Just look for "fast passes" you get them and it states a time then you go back during that time and bypass most of the lines.

Of course....the pool at the hotel was always a huge hit with my son. But both Disney and Seaworld have water parks with a lot of areas for the little ones including little little water slides. Aquatica seemed the nicest for little ones...although we never made it there since my son wanted to go to Animal Kingdom three days of our trip!

Whatever you decide...have a wonderful time!

Oh and if you go to downtown disney....bring extra clothes and shoes....they have these cool water squirters/fountain and its hard to say no on a hot day!
