Where Is the Best Place to Get DisneyWorld Tickets? ADVICE on DISNEYWORLD, FL

Hello Moms,

I'm just wondering where would be the best place to get tickets for DisneyWorld in FLORIDA. My family is going in Jan. There will be 6 adults and 2 kids (ages 4 and 2) and we will need either 3 or 4 days of tickets. I've heard that you can buy them off the street there??? I've looked at the Disney website but to get really good deals you have to get the bigger packages and we won't be able to use the rest of the days..... Do any of you have any advice?

We do not have any military relatives that are actually going to be with on this trip.... And I've looked into the non-expiring tickets but by the time you pay the fee for that, it's pretty much not worth it........

And I was also wondering if any of you have went to Sea World? Is it worth it? The day pass for that seemed very expensive as well. I believe it was $70 or $80 a person for just one day.......

I need any advice you can give. We are for sure going to Magic Kingdom because we've purchased a meal with the Disney Princess gang. Other than that, we have no plan yet! We are NOT staying on site so we can NOT do the Disney dining plan. Our accomodations can not be changed so a recomondation on doing the dining plan will not help.........

ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE ABOUT GOING TO DISNEY I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE!!! Thank you MOMS!

So What Happened?

We found a GREAT discount off ebay from a guy who sells a ton of tickest. For 6 adults and 1 child we saved about $800 from the regular price of admission! And they were brand new tickets!

So we did Magic Kingdom our first day, park hopped from Hollywood Studios to Animal Kingdom on day two, and started at Hollywood again to do the Toy Story Ride (AWESOME RIDE) and park hopped back to Magic Kingdom for the rest of the day. We skipped Epcot and SeaWorld because we thought the two little ones wouldn't get much out of it for the admission price.... It was a BLAST!

Thanks everyone for the help. The trip went great.

Hi Miranda

My family we went last Spring break and just loved it we did the Disney package and stayed at Disney for a whole week . You will enjoy it . There is ton of websites out there that you can go to that will show you discounts for Disney . I would not buy the tickets on the street they will ripe you off . Sea World is so worth the day pass we did it and the kids want to go back just like Disney . We got to all the parks one a day plus Sea World . I would call a travel agent and see what they can do for you too . Good luck and have fun .

Anyone a veteran? You can get military discounts but they have to go with you. You might want to try a travel agent and compare prices.

There are all sorts of web sites devoted to people who are just passionate about Disney. One of the best is Disboards (www.disboards.com). However, the amount of information you will get there could very well make your head explode. They are just that passionate and know just that much. Having said that, there is not a question you could come up with that someone there could not answer in exhausting detail.

You can NOT buy tickets off the street. Whoever told you that was misinformed. There really are no deals on Disney tickets so it is best to go via Disney. Mousesavers is another good site and any deals Disney might have, they would know about, so check them out.

If you want to do any character meals or any other dining on site or at any of the resorts, you should make your reservations now. The popular character meals fill up very fast and if you don't want to have lunch at 9:30am, you need to make them. Not for counter service. Just the sit down places.

Have fun.

Hello, this January will be the 7th time I have been to Disney and the Orlando area. Everywhere I have looked for discounted tickets usually ends up being a few dollars less and that is it. With buying them off the street sometimes they are a timeshare place and you have to sit through 2 hours of nonsense to get them. Also Disney has started using fingerprints to associate you and your tickets, they started this in 2005 to prevent ticket fraud. Seaworld is great, if you buy an eticket online you save 10-15 dollars. Also get the second day free option, it is worth it in case you miss the shamu show and want to go back to see it.

I usually buy the tickets directly through Disney or you can buy them at the Disney Store directly. We recently returned from our 5th time at WDW and our second Disney cruise.
They sell tickets at the gate at any of the parks. I always worried that ones you get off the street or ebay may be counterfeit. My hubby can get them discounted through his work so check to see if your work has a discount program. On the Disney site you can buy as many or as few days as you want.
I belong to this Disney community at www.disboards.com. You can find a lot of answers there.

I do not have experience with Disney World, however you asked about Sea World and we just got home from our vacation to Orlando December 11th. We did go to Sea World and it was totally worth it to us. We purchased our tickets online and got the adult ticket for the Child price which was $65 and our 2 year old was free, plus when we purchased online we got a second day for free. My son still talks about the Shamu show and the dolphins! The rides were fun as well for kids and adults. I hope this helps you make your decision about Sea World.

Sea World--I myself have not been, but my dad has. He took us to MANY theme parks, amusement parks, etc, and he himself has been to many other shows and places that have shows. It takes a LOT to impress him at this point, and he said Sea World is and absolute MUST DO!!! He was very impressed. I have not been to Disney in a while, but you will need AT LEAST 2 days at Magic Kingdom. I missed the ages of your kids, but if they are younger, skip Epcot (I hated it both times I went) and probably could skip MGM/universal studios. I've heard Animal Kingdom is cool, but again, depends on ages of your kids and their interests. Definitely minimum 2 days at Magic Kingdom and one at Sea World. Enjoy! We are saving for a trip to Disney too, so I'm anxious to see your responses--I posted a similar question a year or so ago and got ZERO responses =( Have fun!

Miranda,

If you have time before you go, Disney is giving free one day passes in exchange for a day's service project at a participating nonprofit organization. You can check their website for details.

www.mousesavers.com has good ideas. If you sign up for their newsletter, you get a link that gives you a discount code for www.undercovertourist.com which has low prices.

I second the advice not to buy them on the street. There's a risk they aren't legit tickets and then you are out the money.

If you have access to a car, the Kissimmee, FL K-mart sells tickets in person only. 1-800-669-0913 for directions and prices.

I took the kids to Sea World in San Antonio and we had a wonderful time. I haven't ever been to the FL one.

Hope you have a fantastic vacation,
S.

Hi there -

We went to sea world in CA last year w/ our girls (2 y.o. at the time) children are free under 3. I have never been to the FL location but based upon our experience in CA I would NOT recommend it for kids your childrens age. It's $65 per ticket which covers everything.... but most of it is too old for your children. The rides are very mature (10-13 y.o. would like them). So I would save your money and stick w/ a park that has a lot of stuff for little ones. Good luck!

You already have alot of advice about tickets, so I will just mention that you CAN bring a backpack into the park with snacks and WATER for the kids...which is much less expensive than purchasing it in the park. Have fun and Enjoy your time there! And the Disney tickets ARE worth it--they really do create a magical experience for your kids!

HI Miranda
We got ours through AAA. Interesting, they ding you full price for the first 4 days at the park-- then each day thereafter is only like $9- serious. It's insane as they know most people only go for 3-4 days. So check that out. We did the park hopper which added more costs-- but stayed for 10 days in the area so we didn't have to cram it all in and had time for swim/relax. I decided I didn't want to be one of those parents dragging around kids saying suck it up, we paid for this and you'll have fun and we'll see it all type thing (I must have had that happen once as a kid huh?- Ha). Anyway. We researched it and they managed to do the best deal-- it was 3 years back-- and there was an issue and they took care of it at their cost so that was super too. Yes- Seaworld is 70/day and you can combine it for cheaper with other parks under that mgmt system but not with Disney.
Enjoy your trip and 2010.
Merry Christmas and blessings for the true spirit of this holiday.

Check with AAA. They can do lots of things that you won't find on the website. I recommend doing a character breakfast. They limit the amount of people that can go at any one time and there are a ton of characters that wander through!! It is very fun for the kids. I also recently saw that Southwest Airlines is doing some specials that might be helpful. Sea World is also very fun, but there again it is pricy. All of these places are pricy, as they are HUGE tourist attractions!! I am from San Diego so I have done Sea World and Disney many times, and I love them both. You might check Sea World. Lots of times they have passes that you can buy that are 2 for 1 deals. But a one-day pass get another day free. Good luck and have fun!!

When we bought the five day pass (or whatever it is) it didn't have an expiration date so we actually used it again a couple of years later. If that's still the case, that might be an option if you think you will go back some day. I agree with the other poster to skip Epcot given the ages of your children. My kids didn't even fully appreciate it at 5 and 8. Sea World is wonderful, but I do wonder if your kids are a little young to appreciate it. Can they sit for a dolphin show, etc.? Do they like animals and sea life? There is a great toddler play area to get wet (or at least there used to be) and some rides, but I think the rides are for older kids. It is definitely a worthwhile place to go, but it might be a little early for your family. Have fun!

Hello,
My family LOVES Disney but I hear your pain..it is very expensive. There is a website mousesavers.com you should be able to find some sort of savings there. I would be hesitant buying tickets on the street. Don't buy the park hopper ticket if you don't think you will visit more than one park in one day. Eat before you enter the park and bring snacks with you. A huge part of our budget was spent on food.
About Sea World, that's another place we love and would pay the price again and again.
Have a good trip!

I agree with the posters who recommended Mousesavers.com and undercovertourist.com. We are DVC members and go to Disney 2 times a year. We ALWAYS buy our passes from Undercovertourist.com and have never had a problem.

We are going to Disney for our 7th time in January. I would either buy your tickets online from Disney or from a Disney store. I've never heard of any one getting a deal from a street sale for Disney tickets---there's a catch or they aren't legitimate. As far as Sea World, 14 days in advance you can buy off of their website for $90 for Sea World & Busch Gardens with unlimited passes for a week. So that comes to $45 a ticket.

First of all, there are lots of signs in FL about discount tickets, but you would probably have to spend much of a day sitting through a timeshare presentation. I wouldn't count on buying anything on the street! At the Disney admission turnstyles, you insert your tickets and put your fingerprint on the machine, so the tickets are non-transferable. You can pay extra for tickets that will never expire, if you're sure you will go again. The more days you purchase, the cheaper they are! Here is a BARGAIN if you can get to the Disney Store at the Mall of America BY DEC. 24: For every $250 purchase at the Mall of America, you present your receipts to a guest services counter and receive 2 all-day wristbands to Nickolodeon Universe (usually about 29.95 each). They were offering something like this last spring when I bought Disney tickets and it worked out great. After we came back from Disney, my kids and their friends enjoyed MORE rides at the MOA. (They often feature these deals a couple times per year, especially between Thanksgiving and Christmas and sometimes again in the winter.)Have fun at Disney; it is a magical place. The only advice I have for someone with kids of your age is that you still need to allow for naps and can't expect them to be at the parks from open to close or they WILL melt down.

Miranda,

I second the motion for undercovertourtist.com, I used them this year to get our tickets and they were great. We got the whole week and I believe we had one day left on all of our tickets, we sold the tickets to one of those ticket stands you speak of and made $120. That helps offset your expenses.

Another option would be company discounts and I would suggest checking out the Entertainment book to see if they have SeaWorld discounts.

My husband and I just took our 2 and 4 year old boys to DisneyWorld at the end of September for the 1st time...you're going to have a great time! I would agree, look on disboards.com and mousesavers.com for great info. Also try, allears.net and http://www.touringplans.com/tp2/UG2_index.php?PageID=16. The last website gives detailed touring plans specifically for families with small children and we found these to be VERY helpful! It tells you which order to ride the different rides to minimize your wait time. One word of caution...it suggested a few rides that I didn't think were age appropriate for my 2 year old (too scarey)...I also did some research on the rides by checking out 'Walt Disney World with Kids' from our library. This book gives very good descriptions of rides, which ones are age appropriate for little kids and even ranks them with a 'scare factor.' Good luck!
