Online Food/calorie Tracker

I was doing weight watchers, but got frustrated with the points; it worked for me last year, this year not so much.

I still want to track workouts/meals, I've got a calorie goal I'm aiming for. I really like Fitbie because it deducts calories used that day from those consumed to give you a Net calorie consumption and has a dashboard that makes it easy to log everything from one place (like WW) - but the website is sooo slow and the food list is not very comprehensive.

I've also used Spark people, but you have to go to multiple places to log things and it just doesn't seem as easy breasy to use.

So - if you log calories/activity online, what tool do you use? What are the best ones out there?

What can I do next?

I just started using MyFitnessPal and it is DEFINITELY the best one I've tried (and I've probably tried five or so).

I use the Calorie Counter by FatSecret. http://fatsecret.com/

There is a phone App and you can download the barcode scanner for any packaged items you might use (very handy for yogurt or canned items you add to recipes). You can take the time to create frequently used recipes or meals (like I have a small and medium Taco Salad of my own with measured ingredients in it...I hate things like sour cream and guac and just a sprinkle of cheese, so I CAN do it very low cal with loads of lettuce and tomatoes)

I can enter things online, but usually use my smartphone app. I can set the calorie level where I want it. I just have to be a good girl and enter my foods!! LOL

I know many people who use myfitnesspal.com and love that too!

Good luck!

I had used Spark People in the past, but just like you said, it was a bit cumbersome and took way too much time to fill everything in. I now use an ordinary Exel spreadsheet that my husband made for me and I just log everything there. I often eat the same thing over and over (especially breakfast and lunch) so I know how much I have to log for these items that I use often. Restaurant items I usually google - that doesn't take long at all and my dinners I calculate as I cook and then put in whatever amount I come up with. Even though it appears more complicated then when you have a drop down box, I find it much easier and faster since I know the calorie contents of most of my food anyway.

I have only used the Weight Watcher online tracker and I liked it - but I really liked the points. I liked that you could eat anything you wanted, as long as you budgeted enough points for it.

I use My Fitness Pal. There's an app but you can also do it online. If you are using the app you can scan the barcode if there is one on the food you are eating and it inputs it for you. The food list is also pretty comprehensive, I haven't had trouble finding any of the foods I've eaten on it.

I second the MyFitnessPal recommendation! I find the site simple to use and you can use it on your computer as well as on your phone, which I love.
