No to Cry-it-out, YES to Stand-it-out!

Wow, I thought I'd have a fight on my hands trying to transition my daughter from my bed to her crib. It was met with some resistance, but I didn't give in. After storytime, I placed her in her crib, stood crib-side and let her hold on to my arms or the crib bars and she got so tired of holding on and walking around the crib, she just settled in and fell asleep. This happened twice, going for #3 and hoping it's the charm! Has anyone else tried this method?

What can I do next?

yeah I had to do that with my first daughter for naps. She went to bed fine at night but for naps unless I stood next to her crib she would not fall asleep. Yea it totally works and if you just keep doing it but move farther and farther away from her. Like move to the middle of the room, then by the door, then outside the door but with it open and then just put her in bed and leave. After a few weeks she should be going down no problem at all.

I would have to pat my daughters back if she woke up when I would lay her down. Eventually it was less and less till she would just look at me and then close her eyes and go to sleep. I can't remember how long it took but she was a great napper and got really easy to get down!

I would much rather comfort her like that than to make her cry for me!

I tried something similar. I sat next to my son on the bed, every night getting a little further away until he was able to fall asleep on his own. Worked like a charm. He was 18 months old at the night. Much better than just letting them scream themselves to sleep.

I suggest you put her in the crib say goodnight and sit on the floor facing the door. She might scream or try to get out depending on her age? If she does get out just gently put her back in with out saying a word not even shhhh. sit back down so she knows your there its a comfort and secure thing, keep doing this and you will be amazed! It worked great for me. Good luck
