New Rules!

Thought most users might want some facts about the mysterious "new rules" comments flying around here...

No. Such. Thing.

The "change" (not RULE), is as follows:

"We are using a new method of informing people that post need to be revised. However rules are not changing, we are just more aware of things that are happening.

With this new form of communication we are asking people to revise information before we pull a post. We feel this is fair for all and gives everyone a chance to change."

In other words, before your question or answer gets pulled for being offensive in some way, they may contact ytou and give you a chance to change it. This is probably "new news" to most of us.

So...I'm happy to have solved a mystery.
Is this "change" news to you, as well?

So What Happened?

Yep...I'm a big fan of FACTS. Not twisted editorials so I asked and she answered.

Well, it's nice that they actually answered this question for you, so that it's from "the horse's mouth". I thought this was just "made up".

I guess the people who knew about it in the first place are the people who were asked to revise their posts. Those of us who haven't heard about it evidently aren't flaunting the rules.

Thanks for the explanation!

Yeah, I didn't know about it.

I don't think it will apply to me since I try to be a beatific source of information and opinion around here.

yep, new news to me.
I guess we need to write something offensive and see if we get a letter and the chance to fix it, haha.

I have never had anything pulled or been reported for flaming - I wasn't aware of any of the rules.

Thanks for the update tho.

Don't speak too soon Yermatey, I too thought this stuff didn't apply to me because of my middle-road, empathetic responses, but I recently had a response pulled- surprise! They didn't give me an option of re-writing it first though, that would have been nice. I guess what I said just came out wrong and I don't really know how it works but all it takes is O. person (or the poster maybe?) to click the report button. Like I said I never paid attention to that stuff before either!

I haven't heard a thing about this.

I'm glad revisions are being offered rather than yanking a post or response. Depending on who is reviewing it, it can be pullable in the eye of the beholder. And just because some may be "offended" by it, it may not be offending, just an opposing opinion. And what if someone is having a rough day and may not come across properly without bad intent. What if someone is angry about the topic and not the person posting and it gets pulled. Varying reasons without a chance to correct anything wasn't right. Glad the new "change" is in place.

Good to know! I think this sounds like a positive change. Nothing makes me crazier than to try to go back to a post, only to find that it has mysteriously been deleted. At least now, the OP will be notified of what part of their post conflicts with the rules, so they can change it.
