My sister is getting married next month and I'm the matron of honor. She's asked me to come up with "activitiy bags" or something like that to help keep the kids happily occupied during the reception which will be from 6pm - midnight. They are also going to have a kids table at the reception which I need to stock. Besides coloring books, crayons, bubbles and puzzles, can you give me some suggestions for what to include? The kids will range from 4 months - 12 years, so I want to be sure to have something appropriate for all ages.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

WOw... what an assignment!
ALSO, your sister needs to think about WHO is going to be assigned to that table to "supervise" all those children? THIS is VERY important... and the Parents/other adults, will want to enjoy the party too. You can't just leave the kids at their table unsupervised... or, to have them wander off...

www.orientaltrading.com has some great craft/goody bag ideas for any age. Try that.

Oh also, depending on the age of the children, many times the young one's will still want to be with their parents, and/or have separation anxiety... so keep that in mind. Kids will want to go back and forth between their Parent's and the table... kids do NOT stay still! And some kids cry...

Good luck!
Susan

What a great idea!
I'd put kid friendly snacks like sparkiling cider, gold fish, pretzels, fruit or animal crackers.
What about getting some disposable cameras and letting the older kids be the "photographers." Your sister will probably get some memorable photos.
The kids will have a great time just dancing too.
A lot of parents usually bring their own things for kids and won't stay till midnight.
When you hit the drive through, order kids meals and stock up on the toys.
Oritental Trading Company has lots of goodies and Target always has fun stuff in the dollar section.
Stickers are a good idea too.

Hi A.,

I don't know if the wedding is taking place in Orange County or not. If it is my company (mom owned) www.mollycoddlers.net has provided sitters for weddings in the past to keep the children occupied and entertained during the reception. The children always have a great time (and can go back to the room to sleep if necessary) and the parents are always elated to have someone responsible there so they can enjoy the wedding also.

Hi A., usually wedding receptions are not places people take childern to, not small children anyway, I think if parents take their children to something like a weddng reception they need to take responsability for their own children, having a childs table can work, but with such a varried aged group that will be challaging, small child have such short attention spands, bubbles are good but get spilled, I would try an provide some kind of craft for the school aged kids, that will keep them occupie for a while. Hi A., I am a photogrpher in Vegas and the DJ was also a balloon guy. He made balloon animals and brought brain teaser wooden puzzles for the old kids. He would start the music and head out to go talk to a kid. He entertained one at a time, giving him a puzzle and telling them to bring back the puzzle completed. It was the greatest thing I have ever seen. Maybe they can pass around a few rubics cubes if they haven't already figured them out. Take a look online and see if you can find some different puzzles to keep them going.

Enjoy the wedding.

I don't know if the wedding has happened yet, but if not my business can help! We do Temporary Airbrush Tattoos and we are always popular. We can even do a special stencil of the Bride and Grooms name and the date.

Of course, it won't be just the kids wanting the tattoos!
