Need Reviews for TMC Maternity Care in Tucson, AZ

I had both of my babies at TMC- their labor and delivery was excellent. I also liked knowing that if something went wrong- they are equipped to handle it. Where they were lacking however was the recovery section- it was terrible the first time, and just ok the second. But my concern was making sure the baby got here ok- you are only there for 24 hours if everything is smooth sailing- I have heard that St Joes is better on the recovery side but not as equipped if something goes wrong- hope this helps!

I delivered #1 at TMC - but that was almost 7 years ago. I had #2 at St. Joes. I agree with Jenifer that TMC is great on the delivery side and not so much on the recovery side. I was only allowed to have 2 ice packs and I had a level 3 tear! I couldn't get out of bed on my own due to stitches and swelling, but I couldn't have more ice.

My experience at St. Joe's was MUCH better. I got there at shift change with contractions 1 - 2 minutes apart. Not even time for an IV. They got me to a room and in a bed so fast it would make your head spin! For recovery, there was a drawer full of ice packs - for me to use as I saw fit (had a slight tear this time). And was given Tucks for the stitches - didn't get them at TMC - and let me tell you, they help A LOT!!

Also, at St. Joe's, you don't change rooms after you deliver - unless they have a crazy run of deliveries, then they move you. But, I got to a room and that was where I stayed until the day I went home. They have theme rooms that you can request - you can have your baby in a U of A theme room, if that's your thing. They can't guarantee the room, but will do what they can for you.

So, all things considered, if I were going to have another baby, I'd choose to deliver at St. Joe's. The entire experience was just more pleasant. Nothing wrong with TMC L&D, just wasn't impressed with the Mother/Baby side.

I had my son at TMC last April, they were wonderful! I had some problems with my pregnancy, and I would go there for treatment. I have never had any problems with the hospital. Hope all works out for you, and good luck!

I delivered at UMC and liked the nurses and didn't mind the med student that I talked to but I didn't like the lactation nurse they put me with. She was quite rude and not very helpful at all thats where the rude came in I was 21 at the time and had never breastfed a baby before and with every question I had she made me feel like an idiot so I just stopped asking them which in turn didn't help me at all. I have a couple friends that delivered at St. Josephs and I have nothing but wonderful things about the hospital.

I would go with St. Joe's. I really wanted to deliver my son at TMC but ended up at St. Joe's because he came early. Years later I worked in mother baby at TMC. If I were to have another baby I would only go to St. Joe's. You are going to get a private room with St. Joe's,possibly not at TMC. Should something go wrong with the baby the NICU is amazing and they have some of the best neonatologists in the country at St. Joe's.My son was there for 4 days and I lived in the NICU. The nurses are helpful and sweet.

TMC and UMC are very busy. Any where from 20-30 babies born every day. St. Joe's is less then half last time I checked.
