Need Miracle Stain Remover

My husband just had a bbq sauce pump explode onto his favorite white cotton shirt. I used Dreft stain remover and it took most of the stain out. I can tell it is going to leave light stains all over. Does anyone have a miracle cure? What is the magic potion to take these stains out?

I agree with a previous poster - try Dawn. Dishsoap is designed to cut grease - and BBQ sauce probably has some oil in it which is causing the stain to cling to the fabric. I soak it in Dawn, rub it in and let it sit for awhile. Then wash like normal. Sometimes, I have to use hot water (hopefully it won't shrink!) to also release the stain.

You will probably have to wash it a few times, but I agree with the cold water & bleach suggestions. Also, hang it out in the sun to dry. That will help lighten the stain. I don't know the science behind it, but it works!

oxyclean stain remover and hang it outside to dry all day... like was said nothing takes out stains better than the sun. I always ruined stuff when I used bleach so I stopped and started using oxyclean it works wonderful.

If it is a bright white cotton, I'd agree with the bleach recommendation. However, using bleach is tricky, and if not done right could cause the shirt to yellow, or damage the integrity of the fabric.

I'd wash the shirt alone in a gentle cycle with cold water on the large loard setting, and follow the bottle's (bleach)directions for a small load.

There are also now Clorox brand bleach pens available at most stores, that allow you to put bleach directly on the stain. They're a diluted gel formula and I've had great success with them. No yellowing, but perfectly white and stain free!

Try vinegar, I read it recently it takes out all kinds,
I tried it on a couple of stains that I knew wouldn't come out in the wash......and it did really work.

pour vinegar....blot with a white cloth, and keep on doing it until it disappears.

good luck

Seriously before trying anything with bleach (it can damage more than it can help) try a really sunny day in a really sunny location for a whole day. You will be amazed at what the sun can take out. I dont think I have had many stains that havent been removed by the sun. I highly recommend this before using any chemicals.

I almost always soak any stained items in Dawn liquid dish soap and hot water overnight. It has always worked for me. It works great on carpet too!!

I make a paste of Dawn dish soap and OxyClean Spray. Let it sit overnight, then wash. Good luck!
