Hello all , hope every one is having a good day, I was wondering if someone has a really good brand of washable diapers that they use, due to financial problems after moving from England back to Dallas we are having trouble keeping up with basic needs so i thought about saving money by using washable diapers but ive only used the ones from the uk. I used them on my son from birth till about 6 months along with disposables. I was wondering if anyone else uses washable diapers and if so what are some good brands and where can i purchase them. Thanks everyone!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the wonderful responses , We are in the process of trying a few different ones out and hopefully we will find one that works for us, then I will buy more. Because of such a financial bind I think i will have to go with prefolds and covers though. again thanks alot!

My favorite are Bum Genius One-Size diapers from Cottonbabies.com but will cost more initially. The cheapest would be pre-folds with covers and my favorites are from Greenmountaindiapers.com with Thirsties covers. Abbyslane.com has lots to choose from and free shipping! Good luck!

bumgenius are my favorite. the fit is fantastic, they hold brilliantly, and i find my kiddos stayed/stay more comfortable longer wearing them than when wearing their prefolds/covers (e.g. i feel fine about allowing 3 hrs between changes instead of 1.5, or whenever i know the dipe is wet or dirty). however, if you can buy one-size (like bumgenius), used, or seconds, all the better because pocket diapers can be more of an inve$tment than other styles.
for the extra laundry and clothes i had to buy even after my most dilligent folding efforts, i found prefolds to be deceptively inexpensive at the front end. the savings from switching to fitteds was more than made up for in those terms. i really like the fit and durability of one-size bella bottoms diapers. i didn't try any bella bottoms covers, though, because our prowraps (discovered only after too many disasters with other brands without those magically strong gussets!) were a great value and real workhorses around here before we got all spoiled using bumgenius! (perhaps if we had the prefold/prowrap combo at the beginning, i could have nicer things to say about prefolds...?)

regardless, my favorite online sources change according to sales i can find posted on diaperpin.com and via email/online/yahoo groups to which i've subscribed (very easy to do & great savings, btw). my favorites in the past have been mom's milk boutique, nicki's diapers, abby's lane, and cotton babies.

hth!

Hi, my name is E. and I own a cloth diaper store in Farmers Branch called Babies Bottoms and More. You can see our website at www.babiesbottomsandmore.com though since you are local you may want to come into the store to be able to see the different brands and types first hand. Our hours are Tues and Thurs by appointment, and Saturday from 1-4 (no appointment needed on Saturdays). You can reach me at ###-###-####.

We carry probably about 20 different brands of cloth diapers, from the plain prefolds with covers, to the fancy one-size-fits-all all-in-one's. I look forward to hearing from you!

Not sure which brand is best....we are expecting in feb, but I got 13 fuzzi buns off of craigs list for a little less than half the price of new. They are used but the elastic had been just replaced, it took a short time to find them but that maybe an option for you. Goodluck

Hi J. ... My name is Michael Soules and my wife, D., and I own a diaper service here in North Texas. We offer diaper laundering and sanitation services so you don't have to purchase any diapers and we can grow. If you want we do also offer some diapers for sale, but we use prefolds made of Indian cotton. We are also looking into several brands of organic diapers to use with our service, but we have not settled on any specific one as yet. We service the DFW metroplex area so we would be more than happy to discuss our service with you. Our website is located at http://www.bluebonnetdiaperservice.com/ and we can save you money over purchasing cloth or disposable diapers. I would highly recommend not using disposables due to the process that the disposables go through is not environmentally friendly. Plus, disposable diapers have an extremely long timeframe to decompose in our landfills. Last I knew the EPA was estimating approx. 450 years for a disposable diaper to fully decompose and when multiplied by all the disposables in use that is a phenomenal number.
Please visit our website and let us know if you have any questions or would like to start a service.

i use prefolds because of the price, they are much cheaper and you can get more of them. i got mine off of ebay (chinese prefolds) they are better than the gerber ones you can get at walmart. you have to use pins and a cover but for the price they are the best. i did get a few more expensive ones to use as well but mostly i use prefolds

I just started, and the biggest bang for my buck was on Ebay and it was Coola Baby, they are chinese as well, WAY BETTER PRICE, and they are great! Outside layer is waterproof. I got 24 dipes for like $150.. www.hyenacart.com is another good place, or www.etsy.com all ebay style sites. All the stuff on those sites are mama made!!

We use BumGenius 3.0 pocket diapers with our 6-month old son. He's been using them since about 2-3 months, and the diaper has three snap positions so it grows with the baby.

We also tried Fuzzibunz, but they leaked fairly consistently with our son's less-than-average size legs. We weren't satisfied with Fuzzibunz, so we returned them.

It takes an initial investment to get enough to provide 2-3 days of coverage. We have about 24 or so diapers, so the initial cost is around $400, but once they're purchased, there's only the cost of special laundry detergent after that (but the $40 jug of detergent we have should last for at least a year of washing).

We bought them from Baby Works in Portland, OR.

The most affordable that are also the easiest to clean (along with line drying--super fast in Texas summers!)(for winter you should line dry if it's not wet, and fluff in the dryer) are prefolds and super whisper wraps. Look them up online and order from whoever is having a sale. :)

Good luck!

I loved the Fuzzi Bunz I used as well as Bum Genius. I have 30 Chinese Prefolds and covers to go with them as well. I am trying to sell mine, I have a TON (I also have other brands that I "sampled" too such as Happy Heinies, Kushies, etc. but the Fuzzi Bunz were my favs so I have a lot of those). They ARE expensive though, mostly $18 or so new. Email me if you're interested in this route, I'm not really sure how to sell them and was planning ot wait until our garage sale in April.

There is a site www.diaperswappers.com where you can buy diapers from others mamas. The site, as well as the variety of options, can be quite overwhelming at first, so send me a private message if you would like my help at all. I have spent a lot of time researching different kinds of cloth diapers and navigating the above site.
Good luck!

Hi J.,

We use the brand "softbums" and they are awesome. They are what you call an All in Two. There is an outer shell and an inner liner. They are adjustable and fit from birth until potty training and we absolutely love them. Look them up online, I think their website is softbums.com and check out some reviews also, people just rave about them. Hope this helps!
