I need to know if any of you had your child regress back to not getting up when doing what ever they do and going to the bathroom he will go in his pants. He has ADHD and mild Autism are they any concerns I may need to make with his Dr also??? I am so lost right now, he is such a good boy i hate having to to take away his toys and stuff if it is not really his fault. Please help any advice will be greatly taking. Thanks B.

My son has the same problem!! I would NOT take away anything or punish him for this!! Dont let him have anything to drink 2 hours before he goes to bed. Make sure he drinks plenty of water through the day. You may want to check out Pacific International. We are doing a program with them now. It is not his fault!
Good luck

I would take him to a Pediatric Urologist. My daughter has the same issues, and after trying rewards and punishments, and all sorts of other things, we found out she has trouble feeling when she has to go! Medication has helped tremendously. This might not be the problem, but it would help you determine if it was medical or just behavioral. I hated like crazy that she would get in trouble when she really had no control. She's 10 now and still has some issues, especially at night.

One of my sons also had this problam they said his blader did not grow as fast as he did it was to small. So I had to train him to go. this ment I had to get up every two hours in the night and take him to the bathroom. It was a real pain but in the long run it cut down on the laundry. I tell you this just becouse I would also punish my son when it realy was not his fault. They also give meds and other med. things for this.
But my son was ADHD,Bipolar, and conduct disorder he was on enough meds. and some of the other things just seemed harsh.

You can't punish him for this, all you can do is take precautions for it.

Wal-mart sells waterproof matress pads that cover the whole matress, put a beach towel over it and then your sheets. Then you'll just have to get him to strip his bed every day. I know, I know, I'm sick of doing laundry too.

My husband gets up at midnight and puts our 6 year old on the potty and usually he gets up at 5 and does it again. We don't allow him to have anything to drink after 7 any more as well. The nights my husband gives in, are the mornings he has to do the laundry!!!

There is a medication that will help buy my boy isn't old enough for it yet I think.

My son is 8 1/2 and is high functioning autistic. He did not even get potty trained during the day until he was 6 1/2. I have not even really begun to worry about nights yet. His doctors have told me that it could be do to the low muscle tone he has had since he was born. His peditrician isn't too worried about it at this time either. Before he was trained during the day he had told me there was some medicine out there that if he wasn't even starting to train by age 8 or 9 that we could try. Sorry I can't recall the name of it at the moment. It might be something for you to check into. One other thing that I have discovered with my son being autistic and always behind his peers is that when he is ready to do something he will. No one is going to be able to make him do it any sooner.
I have quite bugging my son to try to get up at night to go potty. We just go before bedtime then wear a diaper to bed. Oh, and I also have the mattress covered in a plastic cover that zips all the way around it (believe I bought at walmart) to make sure none leaks through.

My nephews are his age and are just really heavy sleepers. Their mom took them to the pediatrician and he gave them a hormone(pill i assume) that they take before bed and it makes them retain water for 8 hours. Maybe that would work in your case.
