Do you guys have some good sources for tidy morning routine charts? ours would include- drink milk, use the toilet, brush your teeth, have a shower, get dressed. Looking for something pictorial and simple for our 3 y.o.

Thanks,
F. B.

So What Happened?

Ours is starting to assert himself. He wants to offer up alternative morning routines. His go something like this: first milk, then monster trucks, then socks and shoes, then gabba gabba, then have a shower, then cookies, then take the subway, then go fishing ok????

A chart laying out our expectations, might help keep him on task.
of course he wouldn't go unsupervised, or expected to start or finish these tasks on his own.

Thanks for your tips.

Wow, sometimes getting out the door is crazy. Good for you for planning so well!

We don't shower in the morning and I just added brushing teeth to the list this year. We have to get 5 under age 7 out the door and it's difficult. Basically, be dressed in some sort of clothes, eat, and get in the vehicle!

If you have some type of Microsoft word or something similar I would try to make your own. Just look for clip art on the web.

Otherwise I found this site that might work:

For a 3 yr old?
Like so they can do all that on their own by themselves?

No chart would ever have worked with our son at 3 yrs old.
It was hands on parenting every step of the way from wake up till daycare.
A 3 yr old has no sense of time or urgency - they don't know a weekday from a weekend.
It's too much fun to run the water, squeeze the toothpaste (all over), make bubbles with any soap you have access to, etc.
3 was the age our son was where I once found an entire roll of toilet paper unrolled behind his crib (I can just picture his desire to find out exactly how long this thing is).

Hmm, a chart? I just said, time to brush teeth, time to get dressed, let's get your shoes on, etc.
And no one needed a chart to tell them when they needed to pee.
I had three kids in six years and never once used a chart.
Just trying to get my head around this.
Are you expecting him to get everything done while YOU are taking a shower and getting dressed? Because that may be expecting a LOT at his age. I was always in the kitchen, even when I was watching the news or reading the paper or packing lunches I was keeping my kids on track to get out the door, well into the elementary years!

I did a saturday version and a sunday version that was conformed to our schedule at the time.

I printed them-took them to kinkos and laminated it.

if you PM me your email I Will email what I have to you and you can update it to your needs.

Good luck.

You obviously realize that most successful families have a list just like this posted in the house for morning organization.
Good for you!
Make O. using a page layout program & clip art.

I bought a magnetic white board and made my own. The chores change as they get older.

I like your son's list best. Hugs to him for opening my eyes to a new morning routine for myself. (Showering while wearing socks and shoes seems tricky to me, but these sorts of charts are meant to be tweaked....)

Why not let him draw the pictures - then he's even more invested.
