I had c-diff several times or a few years. Sometimes they think it is gone and it is not. The question I have is WHY is your child getting this. The reason a body develops this is because all of the good bacteria is gone from the bowels allowing bad bacteria to flourish. This is usually caused by being on strong antibiotics or long term antibiotic use. I was usually given Flagyl for C-Diff. This is a HIGHLY contagious infection. When I had it I always used a seperate bathroom than my husband and we had to make sure it was cleaned every other day. Also make sure you wash your hands and the childs hand VERY good. You need to get a good child gastroenterologist. Recurring C-diff is not good, it is very hard on your body and be painful. I am so sorry your little one is going through this, I have been there! Also, watch for dehydration. You body is not absorbing foods as well because of the C-Diff and dehydration is very possible. Get a referral from your family doc to a gastro for him. I suggest using Nemours Clinic in downtown Orlando, if you are in Central Florida. Oh yeah, if your child will eat it you need to get some yogurt. You need to get that good bacteria back into the body.

HI B.,
I'm so sorry you have to go through this. It almost sounds like rotavirus. Two of my kids had that a couple of years ago and one went to the hospital. Antibiotics are usually given. But, the funny thing is, the ones who use alot of antibiotics usually get it. I would talk to the pediatrics about taking a probiotic to get the good flora in his tummy, keep him well hydrated, no sugars. Not too much fruit, maybe no fruit til he's done with this. You can get a good probiotic from Native Sun Health food store. The people there are very good.Build his immune sysytem. I have been using essential oils for 10 years and I use these on my kids. Pure peppermint oil and pure oregano oil works well!

Hello, I'm C.. I would recommend going to the healthfood store and getting some lactose bacillis. It can come in a powder and you should be able to mix it with anything(applesauce, mash potatoes)or have your child eat yogurt. It makes the good bugs in his intestines grow and overtake the bad bugs.

Hi B.,

I am a customer of Melaleuca, the wellness company. They have a supplement called Florify that is a probiotic that replaces the bad bacteria with the good bacteria. Good bacteria will overtake the clostridium difficile and will prevent further relapses. You can go to the health food store and ask them about it and they can probably help you but I KNOW the Florify is one of the best on the market and very inexpensive. I have had colon issues all my life so I know how miserable your son is. I don't have any problems anymore. I take Florify for maintenance.

The company is a membership club ($14.50 for the first year) but the benefits of the company will not only help you get well but will save your pocketbook at the same time. The products are priced comparibly to Wal-Mart and they are superior quality. Let me know if you are interested into looking into it further. I have a document on the Florify I can send you if you want to forward me your email address.

Regards,

M.

I do not have any children with this, but I have an excellent doctor that I use that works wonders and could definitely help. She uses natural approaches and everyone that I have sent to her loves her and sees much progress. She was at Clearwater Natural Medicine for approximately 15 years and now she just opened up her own practice. Her name is Rebecca Lord, and she is in downtown Safety Harbor. ####-###-####. I would make an appointment with her immediately and get on her call list, it can sometimes take a few weeks to get into see her. There is no reason for you and your little one to suffer anymore.

Best to you,
A. Norris
