I have lived in ABQ for about a year and a half now, and have found it increasingly difficult to meet new people here. I am a SAHM which is part of the problem. We don't have family here either. I have a two year old in need of socialization! I take him to parks, museums, and any other child oriented places that I can find. I see other moms, and smile, try to be friendly, but it doesnt seem to be getting anywhere. I am at a loss. Are there any other SAHM out there that feel kinda secluded? I would really like to find some playmates for my son! I am open to any advice! Thanks!

Hi SC, I understand how hard it is. I am a single mom and work full time. My son is also two and we are looking for some play mates. All of my friends kids are older (6 and up). We would love to get together, go to teh Aquirum, zoo, museum.
I belong to a great moms group Moving Grooving Mammas, they have both a east and a west side group and the best part is they are free. check them out www.meetup.com/Movinggroovingmammas/
There are a few mom groups you can join that can help you meet other moms and get connected. Go to www.mops.org. MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. You can also go to www.momsclub.org. This group also offers meetings, playgroups, moms night outs, kid events, etc.
Either of these groups would be a great fit for you. When I quit work after having my 1st baby, it was these groups that brought me out of despair from lonliness. I didn't know anyone who stayed home at the tiem and I've made some great friends thru these groups. Good luck.
Hi SC, my name is L. and I moved here 4 years ago... i understand how hard it is when you move to a new place. it's hard mainly because you don't have a job or anything like that to set up your own network. For me, i signed my kids up in places like Gymboree or little gym where you can also meet parents of kids in your same age level.... I live in the NE area too and, even though my kids are a little bit older (6 and 3), if you ever want to meet in a park or something like that let me know...
good luck,
