Medical Advice- Post C-section Pain

I had my first and only c-section almost 3 years ago and though the recovery was long and hard, it was all pretty normal. About 7 months ago I started having pain in my incision during my period. It's gotten worse over the months and I'm to the point where I can't even button my pants for the pain. It's not even normal cramps, it feels like I just had my surgury last week! The closest symptoms I've found online were for Incision Endometriosis. I don't have insurance right now and can't necessarily see a doctor right away. My husband and I are anxious to have another baby soon but I don't even know if it's safe to get pregnant. Has anyone had these symptoms or been diagnosed with this kind of endometriosis?

What can I do next?

See a doctor. Planned Parenthood is a good option if you don't have insurance. It is income based and very reasonable. There is one in Greeley and one in Fort Collins. Check out their website.

I have endometriosis in my incision scar, but I was already diagnosed with it previously. I would get it checked out, because on the off chance that it is endometriosis, it can cause infertility. Good Luck!

Call a DR and ask about payment plans or assistance I highly recommed you seek advice from a Dr before getting pregnant again. I had a csection and the dr said on an off forever I could get little pains where the incision was, every once in a great while I get a burning sensation around where the scar is but is very infrequent.
If you are having that much pain, go see your Dr. Putting it off could really hurt your chances of becoming pregnant again if it is serious. Also if you got pregnant you would have to seek care and prenatal care. So you have to make sure you are healthy so you can have a healthy pregnancy.

Don't take advice on a website over going to seek medical help. I don't have insurance either, I always talk to my Dr about making two payments and the visit is only $50 a visit. Call around if need be and see who has a low Visit fee. Also I have to get a mammogram, I was in a panic because I don't have insurance or the money of $300 for one, I talked to the assistance program at the hospital and they are going to work with me, so you have options, do not put this off.

Boy, I sure wished I did have some good advice, other than to say that post-op pains like you are experiencing are more common than most people realize. It does sound like incisional endometriosis, but unfortunately I don't think there is necessarily a 'cure' for that. I do think it is likely safe to get pregnant, but you may want to join the group ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) to see if you can find some more information or other women who've been through this. My best guess is that doctors would advise you to have repeat c-section where they would also do a scar revision and try to eliminate any adhesions or endo, but there is no guarantee that it wouldn't just recur. I'm sorry for what you are going through. I get pain from scar tissue/adhesions after my c-section too and it isn't fun!!

I had three c-sections. Afer the last, I had a lump in my scar. It was close to the surface, so the doctor did a day surgury to remove it. It turned out to be endometriosis. Fortnately it was only a small piece and I didn't have any other areas of tissue. You do need to see a doctor, if this is what it is, it will not go away, the tissue will keep getting bigger with each period. Stopping your menstral cycle can help it disolve, so sometimes pregnancy can help, but if the endometriosis is bad, it can affect your ability to get pregnant.

I'd see a doctor. We've been in places where we couldn't pay all our bills even with insurance, and we've never been denied care. Even if the office doesn't make payment plans, their collectors always do, and as long as you pay faithfully, it doesn't go on your credit rating. (They won't tell you that unless you ask, but it's always been the case for us.) Usually there is a cash discount, too, so ask about that, and see if you can save it up to pay to get the discount. That usually is only if you pay in a lump sum. I have worked in several doctors offices. They'd much rather work with you on payment than to just not have you come in. At one point we had so many bills that all we could do was $10 a month. No one gave us problems with that, as long as they received regular payments. When we could, we sent in extra. I hope you get an answer soon and can have that next little one soon!

I had the same problem after about 2 years. I went to the doc & was told that I had adhesions on my scar (probably Incision Endo like you said). I didn't have the pain like you had, but I think I caught mine early-I had cramping & a stretching feeling in my belly. The doc (a very matter-of-fact Danish gal) said that pregnancy in my case would probably fix the problem. She was right! I'd say that since yours hurts much more, you should go see a doc before trying to get pregnant. If it's something more than that it could harm any baby you get pregnant with...
Go see the doc, work out a payment plan, but go see the doc!
