Ok so I had my first c-section on April 3rd and since then my periods have been lasting 10-16 days and I'm having sharps pains in the lower right side of my abdomen (not everyday but frequent). I had my first period 8 weeks after the c-section. I'm wondering if any other moms who had c-sections experienced the same thing and how long it lasted. Thanks!

The same kind of thing happened to me, but I started my period about 6 weeks after my c-section. They stayed pretty heavy for about 4 months and then gradually got lighter. Now they are only about 4 days total with almost no pain at all. I got the sharp pains on my right side for a couple years after both my c-sections and my doctor finaly figured out that it was where the incision had been closed and knotted. There was a large lump of scar tissue that had formed inside and it would pull on the tissue around it and cause a lot of pain. She had me start massaging right there, which hurt at first, but now I rarely have issues with it and my youngest daughter is 2 1/2 now. They can do an exam, or an ultrasound, and look to see if it's scar tissue. The other thing they could check for would be a cyst on your ovary. That can cause frequent pain as well. Good luck and I hope you can resolve it. It's not fun, I know. God Bless you and your little ones!

I knew someone who developed a hernia after her C section. She actually lived with it for about 4 years and then got pregnant again. The doctors insisted that if they fixed the hernia before she had another child, it would simply come back during a second pregnancy.

During her second C section, they fixed the hernia.

She's doing well - no pain.

I had the same type of pain after my c-section. Eventually it got to be less painful and it went away. I thought it was because I was doing to much too soon. My cycles were also off for a while and my DR. said that I was doing a little to much to fast and that at times I should take it easy.
