C-section Pain After 15 Mos

I had my second c-section 15 months ago. My water broke 4 weeks early, now we know it is becasue I have a heart shape uterus and the baby had no more room to grow (my first was 4 weeks early as well). The c-section was very tough, she was back down so they had to keep pushing her back in and turning her, they almost had to break my ribs to get her out, the pain was so bad they had to put me to sleep the minute she came out, her poor arm was black from the trama. Anyhow, after my first c-section 3 years ago I was fine and never had a twinge of anything wierd, this time I am still in pain, I feel like the incision on the inside keeps ripping, especially when I sneeze or carry heavy things. I have now been referred to the "pain clinic" in the Hospital to get injections, that is all I know since I will see them this Monday to know more. We are sure it is scar tissue, they say going back in to remove it could cause more scar tissue so that is last resort. I don't want to feel this way anymore. Anyone else have this problem? Please let me know how you handled it. You all are such awesome mom's!

What can I do next?

Hi, I started having stinging type of pain after 3 yrs of my first and only csection, it's only on one side, on the left side of the csection, I talked with my dr. obgyn and he said that this happens sometimes bec. of the scar tissue inside. I notice it acts up when I do heavy work like raking and lifting or bending (so long sit ups!) It goes away when I take it easy or avoid those movements. What also helped BIG TIME is putting ice on it for a few minutes, the pain goes away w/o painkillers. Good luck!

I had scar tissue adhesions from an appendectomy I had when I was about 12. About two years later I was still in pain and at some point the pain got so bad that I was literally unable to move. I was actually taken to the hospital by ambulance from the doctor's office because I was in such violent pain. I had a laparoscopy to remove the adhesions and have been fine ever since - but it is true that surgery is not always a good option and may lead to additional scar tissue. Some people have made good experiences with deep tissue massage as well.
Good luck!

I started having issues with scar tissue about three years after my first c-section. My doctor suggested injections with localized anesthesia if the pain became unbearable. It did go on for about two months and then went away on its own. I don't know if it had to do with weight gain or loss. The second option she presented was correcting it during a second C-section. I had my second child 16 months ago but apparently there was not a whole lot of scar tissue left. I'm expecting things will continue to go smoothly but only time will tell. I hope you won't have to have another intervention. You might want to seek some natural remedies to help quell the pain.

Best wishes.

I had my second (and last) c-section 4 1/2 years ago. After about two years, I started getting terrible pain like you describe. Mine turned out to be an endometrioma of the C-section scar. It is pretty common. If your pain is increased during your menstral cycle, you might want to look into that. It is when a little uterine tissue gets outside the first layer of your incision. I had abdominal surgery about a year ago to fix it... I still get the random cyclical pain, but for the most pairt, it is gone...

M.,
If you're reluctant to do another surgery, I'm hearing great, great things about Mayan Abdominal Massage for lots of things, but definitely for breaking up scar tissue and promoting healing. It's an "alternative" therapy but it's gaining popularity. Check this website to see if there is a practitioner near you: http://arvigomassage.com/wide/practitioners
Good luck. I'm sorry that you're still dealing with pain :(

Go to a homeopath. There are specific remedies for scar tissue. You will get one and take it on a regular basis or be given one in high potency so that over four to six weeks your scar tissue will go away.
I'd say your surgeons were clumsy and unconcerned for your well being. They were far to rough.
I would not trust them again for any reason.
Accupuncturists are well trained in how to get rid of pain. And, the one you go to might give you Mother's Soup which is famous for normalizing the reproductive organs of women following childbirth. It is also used for making infertile women fertile.
The ingredients can be purchased in Seattle's Chinatown or Portland's. You could find a well trained Chinese accupunturist in either one.

Hi

I had seriours pain from the outset that did not get better for over a year then and saw scar tissue getting worse from the incision. My OB referred me for physical therapy, but I didn't have the insurance and support to make it work the first few months after giving birth. By the next year, I had huge cheloids from the incision and was sent to a dermatologist for numerous injections over a period of months. The injections lessened the scar tissue over time and it got better. I hope you have some relief soon.

Best of luck to you!

I have had three c-sections. Two emergency operations and one scheduled. It's funny how the scheduled c-section (which was just 14 months ago, went the smoothest without any problems then or now)

My second c-section sounds like what you are experiencing. The doctor discovered that my uterus had attached itself to my bladder and abdomin wall. The pain was undescribable. It would 'catch' me off guard. One minute I would be fine; the next rolling in pain.

The doctor did a laproscopic surgery. He was able to remove my uterus from the wall of my abdomin but not the bladder. He was afraid to nick my bladder therefore causing issues with that.

As I said earlier, I went on to have a third c-section. The doctors were extremely nervous and they took their sweet time sewing me up but in the end everything worked out well with that one.

Good luck...keep pursuing this. Do not accept that this is how it will be. You can private message me if you need more info. but do not give up.

Good luck!

Can you update me with how things went? I'm going tomorrow for a laperscopy, my doctor also thinks its scar tissue. I have had 2 c sections, my gall bladder and appendix removed while pregnant, and a laperscopy for female issues. You would think I would be used to surgeries, but I'm starting to get worried the pain will never stop.
