where can i get the vellum? Ive never done this is it pretty easy? Im thinking of doing it for my sons 2nd bday invites!
scrapbook store, michaels, hobby lobby, art stores. using brats to fasten it works good if your doing a invitation.
It depends on what you are doing with the vellum. If there is a scrapbook store in your area, that is probably your best bet for getting vellum. If not, you can try the regular chain craft stores like Michael's or Hobby Lobby. A lot of vellum can be hard to print on because the ink will bleed or smear, so be sure you test out any printing or pen you want to use on it before you start the whole thing.
You can get vellum at any of the big chain craft stores or at a scrapbook store. Attaching vellum can be tricky though. You can just spread glue stick or glue on it to attach to cardstock. It will show through. You have to attach at the top and/or sides with ribbon, brads or eyelets. Eyelets will require a special tool you can get at the craft store. I just used vellum on some invites for my daughters birthday. I used little clear glue dots in the 4 corners and then put a crystal gem on top of that to hide the dot. Have fun!
Staples, Target, Office Depot, and Office Max all have vellum invites. If you are going to print onto the vellum you will need a laser printer and not an inkjet.
The other moms are right about glue showing through the vellum. However, I thought I saw a special glue just for vellum the last time I was at JoAnne's. I didn't pay a lot of attention because I was looking for other things so it was just a casual glance and I didn't pick it up and investigate. It would be worth asking the question if there is a new product for vellum, or if I just misread the label.
