Looking for Warm Shoes That Stay On

I know you don't want to spend the money, but I loved Robeez boots for my daughters first winter. They were warm, cute, and stayed on. They are khaki so my son will wear them this winter now. I think Target has the knock-off versions. Ugg makes a boot for babies too that's adorable for like $50 I think. Robeez fit for a long time too. Unless your son's foot grows incredibly fast, one pair will probably last the winter. If you buy 12-18 month, it will be a little big now but you might get the whole winter out of them. My kids have small feet and wear their Robeez to death though. They are worth every penny.

Well, I would try 2 pairs of socks, a big comfy onesie that covers the feet, and a warm blanket, for car rides/stroller rides.
Otherwise, when he's inside, socks are just fine. You can wait a little while longer before he needs shoes. At this age, shoes are just decorative and don't really keep a baby's feet warm.

P.S. My response is based on you carrying your son, and not him walking in snow or rain.

You don't need boots. Target has the knock-off Robeez shoes for half the price. I'm sure you can also find really thick chenille socks at places like Kohl's to wear, or just put him in double-layer socks. My son, a California baby, got through his first winter just fine this way. :)

P.S. - If he wants to go in the snow, maybe you could tie plastic bags over his shoes and under his snow pants? I'm guessing he wouldn't be out in it for long!

Those Robeez boots were great for my son last winter. He was about 9 mos. last December. They'll fit him all winter, and are a great way to keep little feet warm. Brian wasn't able to pull them off, but I was able to get them on very easily.

One tip: warm up your car for a few minutes before you get into it once the temp drops below 30. That will help considerably.

Another option is to get a BundleMe and keep it in your carseat. Then you don't need boots unless you're outside for an extended period of time.

Honestly, walmart isn't going to have what you need. You're going to have to fork over some money for good quality in this case. Winter weather is no time to be skimping, and that's coming from a Yankee lifer!

I don't know about boots, but don't spend all that money on Robeez. Go to ebay....there's a few people on there that make the SAME shoes, but for 10 bucks a piece. The lady I buy from is Shoeszoo. I think if you type her name on ebay, it'll pull up her stuff.

robeez, bo-bux, shoe-shoes. If you don't want to pay retail for them, look on Ebay or maybe places like Once Upon a Child might have them.

I too suggest Ebay. When my daughter was born a friend handed down a pair of mini star (or mini toes?) shoes she bought off ebay. The leather is thicker than the cheap ones sold at target. The ones at target however are about $12. They don't last as long as robeez, but would stay on with or without socks. At the crawling walking stage, you just have to keep an eye on the toe of the shoe for wear.

Also, do you have a sewing machine? For a few dollars you could make your own slippers, there are many free tutorials online. I have made two pairs from Ohelene's cloth (or leather) shoe tutorial. She also has boots, but not sure if she made a tutorial for that one. Also Joanna from Stardust shoes blog also has a pattern. I used fleece and woven cotton, and put gripper material on the bottom. My daughter is almost 7 months and I do not plan to buy a pair of boots. She does have shoes and socks help keep them on. She isn't walking so I won't have to worry about her being outside much. I pretty much plan to stick with her gym shoes and socks and a blanket since the main amount of time she might be outside is going to the car or maybe a walk in the storller if not too cold. And these time can be ahndled with a good blanket. If you have slippers, you can try putting a piece of velcro sold in strips on. It should hold them in place.
