I am due to have my baby at the end of August this year and wanted to know of any good pediatricians in the middleton area or westside of Madison with either the Dean clinic or GMC. I am looking for a doctor who is patient and a good listener with alot of experience who does not make me feel rushed during appointments. I will be a first time mother so I am sure I am going to have lots of questions so an understanding doctor is key. Thank you for your help and ideas.

PS any other mothers who are expecting or who have little ones who are looking for other mothers for a play group please feel free to contact me at ###-###-####. I live on the west side.

I just had my first child on May, 20th (a little boy) we have only had one appointment, but we go to Dr. Larry Elfman at the Dean West Clinic. He and his nurse were very patient and we didn't feel rushed at all. Being first time parents we had a lot of questions, and felt much better after the appointment. If you know if any Mommy and Baby classes or groups I would be interested, once things settle down for us. Good luck.

congratulation, J.. I recommend Dr. Mark Timmerman with Dean Care. He's WONDERFUL. He's been my family's primary care doc for 13 years. Only problem, you might have to be on a waiting list if he's too busy to accomodate new patients. I can't say enough good things about him. He is never rushed, is patient, never condescending. He never hestitates to call for a 2nd opinion if he's unsure about anything. He's helped me deliver two babies (11 yrs ago, and Jan 2006). I also recommend a birthing class at the Madison Birth Center. There, you meet many other cool moms who can share information, and the classes are great! They also have facilitated yet informal get-togethers for new moms, which I really enjoyed before I had to return to work. Good luck on your new adventure! Sue ###-###-####, SW Madison

I don't know many on the west side, but the ones I have dealt with... I just know I did not like Dr. Paul Dvorak (hated him). For a female doctor, I DID like Dr. Bellissimo or Dr. Moriarty. Try to select a doctor the same sex as your child. I didn't think much about that, but as the child grows older, they will appreciate and be familar with them and that "bond" starts at the beginning. I started off with female doctors, but was kindly convinced that I should really have a male doctor for my son.

Hi,

I have a 2 yr old son and we have been going to see this wonderful doctor on the Physical Plus program. I am not sure about if she is in the Dean too or not, but you might want to call them and find that out.

Her name is Dr. Sia and her phone number is ###-###-####

She is WONDERFUL. She takes her time with us and it does not feel like I am rushed. She also answers everyone of my questions with detailed answers and since my son was 4 days old, I have been going to see her and she knows how to help first time moms like me. (with patience and understanding for being over protective mom) :o))) I was concerned about a lot of things and she took her time explaining things to me where I understand and my worries gotten a lot better since then.

Since my son was one we have moved to De Forest and to tell you how much I like her, I have not changed Doctors and kept her. It is worth for me to go to the West side and see her. I love her very much.

I hope this helps.

My friend has a peditrian she likes at Dean; I don't go to Dean, so I wouldn't know first hand. I'll check with her and get back to you. A great Family Practice Physician at Dean is Dr. Timmerman (or Timberman) something like that. My other friend raves about him. He's good with kids, birth, and adults. Also, there is a Madison Mom's Group, and I know friend's in that if you would like to contact someone regarding that. And, Good Shephard Lutheran Church (Madison/Verona) has a bunch of weekly play dates and mom's groups offered to members and non-members. Check out Dane County Kids for others, too. Best Wishes with your new addition!

I live on the West side and we take our 3 yr-old son to Dr. Kevin Walter at the Dean West Clinic. We love him and he never makes us feel rushed. I'm going to have another baby in July and wouldn't hesitate to use him for the baby as well.
