Hello, we have a 2-year-old boy and a baby due in October. We just moved here last Saturday from Minneapolis. The doctor that was recommended to me is not taking any new patients. Has anyone seen Dr. Sleeth or Dr. Kreckman at the UW Health clinic on 20 S. Park St? We live in Monona, but I'm willing to drive a little bit to find an open-minded, friendly doctor who supports and understands our vegetarian lifestyle. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. I have a consultation appointment with Drs. Sleeth and Kreckman coming up. I'd love to try Dr. Smith as well, but my insurance doesn't cover him. I feel welcome already in Madison!

I believe my daughter saw Dr. Kreckman at the after hours clinic at University Station clinic and she was very nice and understanding.

Also, I would recommend Dr. Omohundro & Dr. McIntosh (they are in the UW health system of docs)

good luck!

I have heard good things about Drs Sleeth and Kreckman at UW, but have not seen them. We recently switched from UW to Dean Health, specifically to go to Dr Smith at the East clinic (he also works at the Dean West clinic). He is very supportive of our vegetarian lifestyle.

Hello-
Welcome to Madison...you will love it here:) I actually saw your question and saw Dr Sleeth at the Meriter hospital nursery where I am a RN. He says he is very supportive of vegetarian lifestyles and will usually send the families that see him to the nutritionist at his office if he isnt sure of something. We see Dr Steve Koslov at UW Health West Towne, and we love him for our 4 kids, Dr Robin Wright there is also very nice and good with kids. Hope this helps...maybe I will see you at the Meriter Birthing Center in October!!

Sorry, I'm not familiar w/ the doctors that you mentioned.
I'm not a vegetarian but I didn't want my baby eating the weird meat in a jar. Dr. Andrus at UW East clinic seemed supportive of vegetarian and organic diets as well. A friend of mine recommended her.
We saw her temporarily, we were able to switch back to Dean to Dr. Smith, who is great (as another writer noted).

Welcome to Madison! Congrats on your upcoming arrival.
