You can have an Au Pair in the US. I've never used one, but I've heard of plenty of people who have. If you do an internet search, you'll find many services who offer Au Pair contacts and such.
Hi,
I've used au pairs until now but because my husband and I are from Europe we can't have one here in the US. Do you know where I can find a housekeeper? Must be live-in position as we have the house set up to live with an aupair.
Thanks,
J.

Try sittercity.com or care.com Both companies will help you employ a nanny/housekeeper. Best wishes!
Gonannies.com is where my employer found me.
.
nannies4hire.com has Au Pairs on their website....or at least they did a few years ago when I used it.
Not sure where you live but you can also try lifeworks.com
As far as I know, if you are a foreigner, you can even bring your nanny, au-pair, domestic helper, whatever into US. Our friends (Canadian/Chinese) are relocating to US from Asia now and in a process of bringing their 2 maids to US. They have to adhere to some US requirements - like wages, etc. but it can be done. If you are US citizen living abroad and have a maid- you cannot just bring her into US. So, I do not see what is the problem... As a foreigner, can you hire an au-pair in US? Yes! Where to get them? Check domestic employment agencies, post an ad online and in a local papers. If you are looking for certain nationality - post an ad in their paper.
Hope that helps.
