We are currently trying to make some childcare decisions for our 3 year old and 7 month old. One option we are considering is getting an au pair. However, neither of us know anyone who has ever used an au pair. Therefore, any experiences, good or bad would be tremendously helpful. Also, any choices of agencies or tips on selecting the right au pair?

Hi E.,

We have had three aupairs in the past year - and I definitely have some dos and don'ts as it relates to chosing an aupair. I'd be happy to share my experience with you. Feel free to email me with your questions.

Hi there. I am also in the process of seeking an au pair. Would you mind passing along any information you have learned so far? I have decided to go with Euraupair for the agency. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!

My sister has had several nannies. She liked most of them. THey stay for one year. It has been at least 5 years since she had the last one and she still keeps in contact with her and several others. Actually, she now places au pairs in homes. Once in awhile you do get a bad one though. I think the agency would back you if there is a big problem. Hope that helps.
