Looking for Gift for Twin Nieces

Hi Moms! I have twin nieces who will be a year old in February. My sister and brother in-law waited along time until they were blessed with twin baby girls and have been trying to give them everything under the sun, as well enjoying putting the girls in matching clothes. My question to you moms out there is, if you have any good 1st birthday gift ideas, besides the usual matching outfits route. I really wanted to give them something special without breaking the bank, if you get me! Thanks for your advise! E.

What can I do next?

Hi E., I am in the process of knitting afghans for twins so of course I'm thinking blankets or quillows. You can do a no sew double layer fleece blanket very quickly and if you can find fleece on sale it's not really expensive. If you do the fleece blankets it's really easy to do matching pillows and doll blankets/pillows.

Coordinating scrapbooks might be nice if their mom is a scrapbooker or wants to be.

A different kind of idea is giving a membership to the zoo or the children's museum - a combined gift that they could both enjoy. If they have a ton of things already, it's nice because it doesn't take up more space to store, but it offers a nice option fora morning/afternoon activity. My mother-in-law always gets my son a membership to the children's museum for his birthday. I love having the memberships because with little ones it usually works out better for us to places like that for 2 hours or so. You hate to pay admissions for a short time. This way, you can go often and see different things each time without having to think about playing a full day's admission rate. I think the zoo is under $70 and the children's museum is more like $100 - not too bad if you are doing it as a combined gift.

You could also take severla photos from their first year and make a memory book online on a place like Kodak Gallery (http://www.kodakgallery.com/MyGallery.jsp?autologin=true&...) or Walgreens. I have made the Kodak ones many times as gifts and people love them because they're personalized and really hold up well.

The other thing you could do is put together a frame like this (http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/furnitureandhomedecor/fra...) . I did that for each of oru parents as Christmas presents of our kids and they loved them. Good luck!

There is a website called comfycozy.com that has lots of unique gift ideas. Some of their things include glow in the dark pillow cases, toddler pillows, calendars and other interesting things. I used them for gifts for my girl scout troop's first camp out. I got the glow in the dark pillow cases that said girls can do anything on them. The girls loved them! Hope this helps.

My brother and SIL buy all of their neices and nephews one share of stock from onestock.com for their first birthdays. You can get the certificates framed and personalized. They gave my kids Disney stock. Prices differ according to the stock you purchase.

Hi E.! My daughter and my niece just turned one in november and they are only three days apart so it is like twins....heheheh. Anyways, the best gift that my daughter got and that I thought was so useful was a radio flyer wagon. Her and her cousin have so much fun in it. It comes with a canopy top and seats that fold up and down. The girls each get their own seat that buckles them in and they face eachother. I am telling you they have a blast and laugh and giggle and talk to eachother. It is a bit chilly now, but this winter has been so mild and spring is right around the corner so it will come in handy. It is only one gift but it is affordable and it could be for both your neices. Honestly we forget how handy wagons are until you have one.

We have a place around us in Marlton, NJ called the Jelly Bean Jungle that is only for children 0-5 years. It was developed by school teachers. www.jellybean-jungle.com Both my daughter and neice received gift certificates so they can go together. I am not sure where you live but that was a great gift too. Maybe you can go to the website and find locations.

Good luck!

From this website you can create a beautiful book that is personalized with the child's name! I have seen the finished product and they are beautiful! I highly recommend this!
