A.,
My husband and I bought a sleep number bed exactly one year ago. I was about 4 months pregnant when we bought it. From the beginning I have been uncomfortable. My husband on the other hand is fine. I figured my uncomfortableness was due to the pregnancy. Once I had the baby, I was still uncomfortable. Now I chalked it up to no stomach mussels and there a bad bad back. Ok, now that baby is 9 months old. It's not the baby any more. So last week, I called Select Comfort and told them that I feel like I am 90 years old when I get out of bed every morning and I NEVER get a good night sleep. After they ran some tests with me on the phone, they determined that I have a bad air chamber (I think it was an easy solution for them and a way to not replace the entire bed) so they are sending me a new one.
Anyway, please do what I did not do, and that is read reviews online. I have family and friends that just LOVE their beds, so I listened to them. But once I started having trouble I went on line and could not believe all the negative reviews. And about 3 weeks ago I went into a mattress store, and the owner told me that Select Comfort is closing a lot of stores because of a lot of problems such as mold in side the bed and poor back support (I will second that). I also feel like I am on a water bed when my husband gets out of bed. And we have double chambers. I can be set at one setting and he can be set at another. When I asked the sales rep about that, he said it is common to feel that. Nice to know that now!
Anyway, if you want my suggestion, I would recommend a Termur-pedic. I am so mad we did not go with this one. But if you still want a Select Comfort, I know a used one you can buy...lol :)
