My two boys have been seeing an MD in Rowlett/Rockwall area. His strep tests are negative; however his ASO titer (which shows current strep in the blood) is through the roof. The MD just continues to prescribe antibiotics, not knowing why the blood tests are off. My good friend suggested we see her pediatrician knowing how thorough he would be. I was reluctant at first because this is a Nurse Practitioner; however, my mom (an RN) said that nurse practitioners are sometimes more thorough and willing to spend time with their patients. This is exactly what I found when I took my son to see Frank Zucconi. Frank sat and listened to my EVERY concern. He wasn't afraid to bring out a medical book and do a little research as he listed to other concerns I had, which has turned out to involve the high ASO titer in the blood. I am very pleased with his 'bed side manner’ (talks with the kids, explains everything he is going to do to the child before he touches them, plus he talks with the parents), prompt return of phone calls (himself, not a nurse relaying a message), and the time and effort he puts into research of different, unfamiliar cases!!
