Hi ladies I am wanted to know if anyone has had the procedure done. Ever since my kids were born my body is not what it use to be and no matter how hard I work on that area it doesnt change. I have been thinking about having this procedure done and I have read the general jif of it and some of the new stuff they have, but I am wondering cost and healing time. I have insurance and I know it will pay for some of it, but I am curious and I have an appointment so I am wanting to be more informed before going and have and idea of what to expect. So any input any info any experience is most welcomed. In advance thank you.

Hi S.,

I similar problems, plus I had always tended to be about 10 pounds over wieght, which I never fussed or worried about, but earlier this year I quite smoking and packed on another 10 pounds. I became very depressed and sensitive about my weight.

So, two months ago I had a tummy tuck and Lipo on my hips (more to reshape them than anything).

I am so very very happy with the results. For me, I do not regret it a bit.

However, let me be honest with you. Recovery only took a month. But the first two or three days was no picnic. I took my pain meds on schedule, so I was not actually in pain, but there was discomfort.

It depressed me to be stuck in the house those first few days and I could not pick up anything (including my daughter) for a full week! This really broke my heart, becasause anytime she fell or wanted me to pick her up for comforting, it had to be the Nanny that comforted her. This was hard emotionally for me, but like I said it was only a week.

I had a C-section with her, and the surgery was a lot like that. Not so bad and every day got better and better.

Cleaning the incision and wearing the Surgery Girdle for a month day and night was a pain, but in the end (for me atleast), it was totally worth it.

i love the way I look and since it was not cheap, that is my incintive to keep my body this way. As soon as my doctor cleared me for excersise, I joined Curves. I choose them becasause as a Mom, it's easier to find 30 minutes three times a week than any other gym schedule. Also, I don't consider myself dieting, but I did cut out all sweets and watch what I eat closely. As soon as the surgery was over, I had already lost 8 pounds. Since then because of my healthier lifestyle, I continue to drop a pound every week or so. But even though that doesn't sound like a lot, having a flat stomach makes all the difference. I look so much better.

So, let me just say although there were negatives. The time, the lay up in your house, and the tiny scars, but in my case. i love it. The results are fabulous.

One more thing. The area around my hips where they went in is still numb. Just like a C-section there were nerve endings involved. Now I am told the feeling might eventually come back to those areas, but my friend who had the same procedure 6 months before me still does not have feeling in that area. So, do be warned about that. But even still, I do not regret the procedure.

Good luck in all you do including this. God Bless you and yours.

If you have any other questions that I might not have answered please feel free to send me another message. I would be happy to help you in any way I can.

I don't know anything about lipo-suction but worked for years as a clinical manager and wanted to comment on your insurance coverage issues. Double check with your insurance carrier about coverage and get them to either e-mail or fax you a copy of said coverage because typically insurance will not cover a cosmetic surgery unless there is a medical necessity for the procedure. I say get the coverage in writing because typically when you speak to someone on the phone about coverage, you aren't necessarily talking to a claims processor, you are talking to a receptionist. If you can get confirmation of coverage in writing, its a lot easier to file an appeal when they later deny coverage AFTER you have the surgery and the hospital/surgeon sends your insurance company the bills. (And believe me, this happens A LOT!)

Hi S.,

I also have the problem with my abdomen ever since my hysterectomy. It is dead between my belly button and the scar. I wanted to read your responses, so that is why I am responding. Bless you with whatever you decide.

Insurance does NOT cover Liposuction. This is purely a cosmetic procedure. Sometimes they will cover part of a procedure during an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), such as a hernia repair but NOT the actual tummy tuck itself and NEVER lipo.

You really need to consider this if finances are an issue for you. Stay away from a plastic surgeon who tries to convince you that insurance will cover this. GET IT IN WRITING and be sure to get three opinions before you decide to have any surgery done.

If you live in the katy-houston area, check into the lipo-tuck procedure w/Dr. Ahmadi in Sugarland at: http://www.265body.com/ahacosmeticsurgery_photogallery_li...

Just look at the fantastic results you can get w/just ONE time surgery, no need to go back for more. The procedure is more indepth but you only hafta go once & recover once. Of course this just depends on what work you need or want done. They actually give you your figure back rather than just removing the fat which would still leave you 'wide & large' w/o a girlish figure as most of the other procedures do. Just compare this procedure results w/other doctor's 'normal' lipo results.
If you live more in the Austin-SA area & don't want to drive to Sugarland & just need a little bit of fat removed, I would suggest Dr. Ersek at:
http://www.ersek.com/
They have different procedures, especially for breast lift or reduction techniques unique to other doctors' techniques plus they do well at regular lipo, just don't offer the lipo-tuck & you may hafta go back for repeat procedures if you have a lot of fat to remove which differs greatly to the lipo-tuck (which removes ALL at once). If you want to avoid going under anethesia, you may wanna check into the lipo sculpture. It'll cost about the same or less than the radical procudures but you don't go under anesthesia, you're awake...they just numb the area. I'd suggest Dr. Carreon in Seguin at: http://www.doctorcarreon.com/
or in Houston area, there are many doctors that perform that procedure but I checked into Dr. Bergeron at:
http://www.skinandveinlasercenter.com/index.php
Dr. Carreon is less expensive plus she provides limo rides to & from your home (or hotel rm) for the procedure so you won't hafta drive. Just remember, if you need to pay it out, just talk to them about it. Most any dr is helpful in that way, you just hafta pay for it first, in full usually, before the procedure is done. If you go w/the less invasive lipo-sculpture, you can do it in segments up to 4 areas at a time if you need to. Hope these links are helpful & good luck!!
