Laundry - Missouri Valley, IA

My wonderful husband helps with the laundry, and I would never want to complain right? However, he NEVER checks for stains. We even have a nice little system where I put my daughters stain filled outfits on top of the dryer...that is all that goes there. But, he still just throws it all in and either A.) never treats it or B.) never checks before drying it and thus forever stains the clothes.

So, is there a way I can fix the stains after they have been washed and dried? Mostly I am talking about food and poop! :)

What can I do next?

I have had good success with Shout Liquid Gel as a pretreat for stains, and also after something has been washed and dried. It has this little scrub brush applicator on the end.

Hi there. You could try spraying the stains with Goo Be Gone. It even takes oil/spattered grease stains out of shirts. Good luck!

I have had similar issues... you can always soak in Oxy Clean dissolved in hot water, it's about the only thing I've ever seen that had an effect on dried in stains. The biggest help would be to change your system (or your husband!). Instead of your system being to put the stained stuff on the dryer, I have a separate basket in my closet for delicates that I don't want anyone touching. My good bras, shirts, etc. That way there won't be any potential for confusion. Just have a separate location and put all the treatables in there!

I use Oxi Clean baby - at Target - they have a big tub of it. I put the powder on the stain then rub in some water. Let sit 24 hours and rinse then wash. It works almost everytime. Even for set in stains. The only thing I dont like is the powder particles fly up into the air and are irritating to the throat. Maybe make sure baby isnt around.

Hope this helps!

Maybe you could pretreat all stains with a laundry roll-on pretreat stick like this one to prevent this from happening in the future:

Spray 'N Wash with Resolve Power Stain Stick

Specially formulated so you can treat stains when they happen, and then wash later—up to a week later!
Perfect for today's on-the-go lifestyles. Keep one handy in your car, your office, the diaper bag or anywhere you and your family go.

I would go ahead and use shout when you put it on the dryer. I actually keep a bottle under the boys sink to treat stains when they come off at bath time. Your other option is to get a large bucket or bin and fill it with soapy water and soak the clothes before he washes them. Keep the tub on your dryer and give them a good soak the moment they come off you little one.

wow, youa re lucky! :) I use that Stain Stick and you can use it before or after things have been washed and it is a miracle worker! I usually try to go ahead and "Stick" stuff before it even goes in the basket. That'st he best way. Just go ahead and stick it and toss it in with the rest of the laundry for whenever you do it. Hope it works!

I remember reading some great responses to a make-up stain question back on 8/8/08! See if you can find 8/8's requests and read the one from Heather...these ladies had great suggestions! Best of luck!
