Have you ever had one of those days were nobody will take what you are saying as a joke, and for that day you are perticularly jokey? I made a joke about our fire alarms because one of our co workers sent the email as it went off. He totally freaked. all I said was " Nice short timing lol" and he shot back "well I can bring him(fire alarm dude) over so you can tell him you are upset"... Did you not see the LOL... It was a joke. more to make him laugh... Uhg people are no fun today!

Maybe he was LOL, too? There are some people who just can't understand jokes/sarcasm and there are some people who never stop with the jokes/sarcasm... it's important to find that middle ground. (And avoid joking/sarcasm with those who just don't get it! There's at least ONE in every bunch!)

Obviously he saw the LOL and still didn't think it was funny... you never know what happened in his day before getting your message. For all you know, you were the 10th person to send him a similar "joke" and he fired off a response.
Yes, I've had those days when I'm in a great mood and everyone around me isn't. I tend to hole up on my office and hang on this website... like today!
lol doesn't always mean "I don't mean it" so he might have thought it was a way to critisize him. Now if you would have said something like "oh that must have been one hot email" there is no way that would be taken as anything but a joke. Emails and posts online are hard to read the emotion behind the words so it is always better to keep it on the lightside. I am sure if you would have said the words to him he would have laughed right along side you. :-)
