Just Moved into a Larger Home- Need Better Vacuum

I got a Dyson Animal (ball) 6 months ago and love it for our carpeted bedrooms, hardwood floors, as well as stone floors in the kitchen and baths. The only difference with the Animal vs. the regular DC25 is that the Animal already comes with the mini turbine head, which is GREAT for when I have to clean the couch. (We have a cat who sheds like crazy). If we had carpeted stairs, I'd probably use the same attachment. Both the Animal and regular DC25 come with what they call a stair tool, but I'm not sure how that works on carpeted stairs. The telescoping arm has a long reach, but honestly, unless I'm reaching up, I find it pretty unwieldily. I prefer using just the flexible hose with the mini turbine head.

I have an iRobot roomba and it is the best little vacuum ever! It won't do the stairs, of course, but it works wonderfully on both carpet and tile. You would be amazed at what it picks up after you run a regular vacuum. If I had a lot of tile/hard surfaces I would totally get a scooba.

I have the animal dyson. Not the one with the ball but the bigger one. It works really well on our laminate floors and is amazing to our carpet (it looks like new!) It also has a really long hose attachment that goes from the first floor to the second floor of our house. I know they are pricey but we got ours at bed bath an beyond with the 20% off.

I have a higher end Oreck and I love it. Lightweight, so easy to use. LOVE IT. 10 yr warranty, I take it in once a year for routine care for free.

It is so easy on steps and upstairs. I have a lot of tile, hardwoods and carpet.

I still have 2 Hoover's, 1 upstairs and 1 down and both work great.

I use a swiffer sweeper on my hardwood and tile
