JFF: Office Party Halloween Games?

Does anyone have any ideas that would be suitable for an office Halloween party? I've googled til my eyes bled, but I can't find anything decent. Last year, I printed images of characters from famous scary movies and they had to come up with the name of the character.

Just to give you some info on our office, we've got about 50 employees, and we're an engineering firm. Our party will only be about 45 minutes, and we'll have a costume contest and themed dessert contest.

We have a white board so we'll do halloween pictionary, and easy things like guessing how many candy corns are in a jar, but I want something great that will get everyone involved.

If it takes some planning and prep work on my part, that's fine. I was trying to find some logic games, like a "whodunnit", that they can start on a week or so in advance of the party. Any ideas? Maybe even a scavenger hunt?

What can I do next?

I'm going to be the Debbie Downer here.

Office parties are already awful, cringe-worthy events. Don't make it worse and add games that nobody really wants to play. Food and drinks, good conversation, a costume contest with a good prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. That's good for 45 minutes (what kind of party only lasts 45 minutes?!).

You say it's an engineering firm? How about supplying a bunch of odd-ball halloween-themed items, allow employees who want to play divide themselves into teams, and challenge them to build a Rube Goldberg device for delivering halloween treats?

I work for a biotech company. Most of the employees have a minimum of a BA or BS in some area of biology, engineering, or chemistry, and a large majority have advanced degrees. At one of our office parties, we played "Minute to Win It" type games, and everyone had a blast. The games we played were balancing 5 dice on the end of a tongue depressor ( a LOT harder than it sounds), bouncing pencils into a cup, shaking ping pong balls out of a tissue box, and stacking and unstacking cups. You can look online for more games. People were given the option of signing up to play or just watching. Like I said, everyone had a great time -- watchers and players alike. At another party, we played hot potato, which was a hamster ball filled with candy (the winner got the candy). As juvenile as it sounds, everyone had a great time. It was amusing to see how competitive people got. We enjoyed it so much, we played twice!

Believe it or not, adults sometimes love to have the opportunity to act like kids! Have fun, and enjoy blowing off some well-deserved steam.
