Where do you store your jewelry? I have tried a jewelry box, but it is no longer big enough and if I store the jewelry out of sight, I forget I have it and don't wear it. Any ideas/suggestions?

What can I do next?

I'll second the tree idea. You can see what you have and it functions as a decorative item as well as practical. Red Envelope has an expensive version, but there are others online.

I recently bought a jewelry organizer that is on a hanger for all my jewelry. I love it! It has tons of small zippered pockets that are clear so you can see all of your jewelry. I hang it on the inside of my closet door on one of those hooks that hang over the door. It is so convenient and has pockets on both sides so I can fit a ton of stuff in it. I bought it at Steinmart for $19.99. All my friends have asked me to get them one for Christmas!

I have seen (in catalogs and on-line) a long mirror that you hang on the wall that opens up and is a hanging jewelry holder on the inside. Might be a good way to be able to see your jewelry all at once and hide it at the same time.

My dresser has a skinny drawer at the top. I lay down that rubbery shelf liner and lay out all the jewelry on there. Doesn't shift/slide when I open the drawer.

I have also seen jewelry 'trees' to hold necklaces and rings and a few pairs of earrings.

My mom bought me a picture collage box you hang on the wall. It's fairly big and holds 9 pictures and just opens up to reveal a large space for jewelry. I love it because whenever I had jewelry boxes I always forgot about them too! Not sure where she got it, but it may have just been from Walmart.

I am not sure where I saw this idea but I have been collecting picture frames in hopes of doing it. The picture frames hold the jewelry on the walls. I was going to take out the glass and attach decorative pins to hold the jewelry and hang them on the wall. So it can be a focal point in the room and a storage for your jewelry. I have seen this with necklaces, and earings. The pictures make it look so interesting. Now I will soon see if that really works and if I can make it look anything like the magazine pictures or online pictures where I saw it. Good luck

I just saw a thing that you hang on the inside of a door to hold matchbox cars (I think it was an Oriental Trade Co. catalog I saw it in). I was thinking about ordering my son one for Christmas. But it is clear, has small compartments, and could hang inside your closet door so you could pick out your jewelry while picking out your outfit. You may be able to find one at a toy store or order online somewhere. I don't know that I'd put expensive pieces in it, but I think it would work for costume jewelry. Just a thought. :)

I don't wear a lot of jewelry. I have my diamond that I rarely remove, earrings and watch.

None of my jewelry is costume jewelry so if I remove it, it goes in the safe in a special box. I do that for insurance purposes because we pay through the nose ($1000 a year) to insure these pieces.

My daughter keeps her good stuff in the original boxes it comes in. She has several expensive pieces that are out of sight and worn rarely and then her favorites from places like Charming Charlie that she organizes and keeps on a shelf.

Hope that helps.

The Container Store (www.containerstore.com) has a stackable storage bins specialy designed for jewelry. I have three stacked in my drawer which hold most of my jewelry. I need to buy two more.

I also get rid of pieces as new pieces come in. I really don't want to keep pieces I don't wear. I want to enjoy all of my jewelry or give it to someone who can enjoy it.

I hope this helps.

I have a lot of "nice" jewlery and am not a big believer in the "tree" where you hang it all out to be stolen! I personally have 2 huge jewlery boxes that have legs and are about 3.5 feet tall each. Between the 2 of them, everything fits and I can see it all pretty well. I also have a huge walk in closet where they are so they are out of site. On occasion when we have parties, someone will go to our master bathroom (which I'm not thrilled about) and call me extra paranoid but I don't want any "temptation" out for them! My mom has those clear like storage boxes for beads, tools, that she keeps all her rings and earrings in and they are in one of her dresser drawers. I hope you find something that works for you!

i've been using the big medicine/vitamin dispenser( has 28 big slots and i insert a cardboard divider so I can put two pairs of earrings in one slot (small stud earrings).
I also bought an organizer I found at Marshall's that comes w/ a hanger. It's back to back but material is plastic (will be good for costume jewelry), this can hold 33 jewelry each side. The reason I like this is I can conceal this w/ a jacket - great idea to hide your valuables. plastic is see thru so i can see all at once.
sort and categorize your jewelry by color.

I ran out of the space of safekeeping my cartier rings for women, so decided in building a new safe for my cluster of collections. You can either go for a classier solution; a wooden wardrobe would be much beneficial in letting through your gold stuff. I recently purchased online shopping from http://www.66mint.com/product-category/cartier/.
