I have my 6 week appt with my OB on Friday, and I'm thinking an IUD for birth control... just want to seek some opinions before I make my final decision.

What can I do next?

I had mine for 2 1/2 years. Loved Loved Loved it. Had it removed and was pregnant 2 weeks later. I will be getting one again after this baby.

I've had the Mirena IUD for 4 years. I love it! No pills, condoms or periods!!!! A friend had one for two years and then decided to have another child. She had it removed and was pregnant the next month. She had twins, but it wasn't related to the IUD. :) Next spring when my 5 years is up and it has to be removed, I will have another put in.

I loved the Mirena IUD. I had it for about 3 years. I had zero complications with it and loved that I didn't have to remember a pill or use condoms. It did hurt a little when they put it in but I was okay the rest of the day. I didn't hardly have any periods while I had it. About every 3 months I would have some spotting. That being said I have had some complications getting pregnant and keeping the pregnancy since. I don't think it has anything to do with it but I have had one miscarriage and my hormones are all out of whack. A few of my friends never were able to adjust to theirs and had it removed. I guess it affects everyone differently.

I LOVED my Mirena!! I had it put in 6 weeks after my son was born, and never regretted it! I had very light spotting off/on for about 5 weeks, then no period at all until almost 2 months after having it removed (to try for another baby!). It didn't hurt to have it inserted (just a very mild menstral cramp feeling, but not painful) or removed (never even felt the dr. take it out). I will get another one after our baby boy is born in November!

Loved Mirena for 13 months then I got pregnant on it! Major problem for pregancy....increases misscarriage risk to 50-55%! Had to have it removed and it was stressful. I would recommend talking to your doctor about what happens if you concieve on it prior to getting one, I would not do it again no matter how convenient it was!
