Ihave had 2 IUD's , take some Motrin about an hour before you go and it shouldnt be to bad. Just relax, its over in a few minutes and you may some cramping and spotting...but nothing comapred to having another baby!
Hi Moms,
I'm scheduled for my Mirena to be put in next week and I have to say, I'm getting pretty nervous. I've "heard" it doesn't hurt to bad if you've had a vaginal birth but can cramp quite a bit if you've had a C-section which is what I recently had.
Just looking to get opinions from Moms who've had it done.
Also, are you happy with it and those of you who had it removed "before" 5 yrs was up, how soon did you get pregnant again?
Thanks so much for any advice!

It does not hurt at all! It's the same discomfort as getting a pelvic exam, nothing different. If you've had a child, you've already been through the 'hurting' part. I've had mine for 5 years and will be getting another next week. I have had no side effects. You will cramp a bit and spot for a few weeks (months for me). It is the best birth control I have ever used. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
Okay,
I will be totally honest with you....yes it hurts.....but not as much as an unplanned pregnancy!!!! :) I have had both. ha ha.
The severe pain only lasts about 30-45 seconds. Then you are crampy for the rest of the day. It is not fun, however, I plan to get another one after my 5 years is up. So that should tell you....it is worth it.
I had a c-section, and it wasn't too bad. Yes it did hurt when it was being put in, but not much more than a normal exam. I had a tiny bit of cramping the first day, but other than that ti was good. I just got mine out so I cannot report yet on how soon I am able to get pregnant again. :)
