Injuries Your Kids Have Given You

Pulled hair
Poked eyeballs
Bit my Wha???? Oweee! No! We do NOT bite mommy!
Legos on bare feet (I've needed band-aids for some of those)
1 dislocated collarbone (deadlifting 80lbs of sleeping kid from the jeep)

Oh the scratches, bumps, bruises, pulled muscles, and melted hearts.

But the kicker... before I learned to duck... he broke my nose 3 times with his 'cannonball head'!

The worst I ever did to MY mum, was a hairbrush I was throwing across the room at my door (mature, I know, I was also 11) and she opened it at the worst possible moment. Hit her square in the face and knocked her out (oh, the shame, the horror, the abject terror of 'Mom! Please wake up! Please!). My sister shut my mum's hand in the sliding door (broke 3 fingers). One of my brothers did the hockey stick to the gut as she walked around a corner.

I swear. Parenting needs to come with body armor and should qualify as a full contact sport.

I have thrown out my back trying to wrestle my 4 year old into his clothes in the morning. Why can't they just cooperate?!?

I've head butted, bitten, pinches, slapped... He tricked my cat into attacking me (He was pulling the cat's tail while on my lap, so the cat whips his paw up and scratches my eye as a punishment)... Oh and let's not forget childbirth!!!

Lost my toe nail when my son just learning to walk decided to use the vacuum attachment as not only a cane but a batt to my toe. Everyone thought I over reacted by screaming, in pain, real pain until the next day when it fell off in a goey mess. Head butts, cracked lips.

But really he has a thing for my eyes, if it reaches, extends or shoots it gets me right in the eye, surprised I still have eye sight.

My most recent was a black eye. LOL my daughter is only 22 months so Im sure I have many to come but a few weeks back she was kneeling on her bed and holding onto her side rail and I kept telling her to stop before she fell head first out of bed. Well she fell and I managed to catch her but she somehow managed to swing her feet as she was going down and her heel got me right in the eye socket - I swear I saw stars and I thought that my eye might have exploded but No it was just a nice shiner LOL

Oh R., when my older son was 4 years old, he went to hug me and stuck his finger in my eye. I had to go to the ER over it. We were supposed to be leaving for the beach, and the rest of the family ended up going without me. Then I had to drive down there by myself with a patch over my eye. Night time driving with one eye is hard, at least to me!

And then there was the time that I was laying on my back lifting my other son up and down, playing with him. He weighed 20 pounds, and all of a sudden he stuck his toe in between my ribs and put all his weight on me. It was just a fluke, I know, but it "did something" in there and bothered me for 2 days. Then I came down with bronchitis, and the coughing sent me to the moon. I ended up having to have an xray of my ribs, I was in so much pain. Between him stepping between them and the coughing, I had done something to the cartilege in between my ribs. I had to be taped (there's your body armor) like a football player, and couldn't pick my son up for a month!

Emotional. Your kids aren't teenagers. Just wait. The bite of a snake is less painful that what a 13/14 year old says to you.

Like someone else said, a lot of mine come from doing (stupid) things with the kids or because they did something and I over react to it. Like the time my daughter went face first into the dirt at the end of the slide. I was on top of the playground equipment thingie and didn't think a thing about jumping straight off it to get to her. Really wrenched my back on that less than Olympic 10.0 landing.

When my son was barely a year old he got on his cousins battery operated 4-wheeler and started riding it straight down a steep ,wooded hill at my parent's house. Apparently I dived right after him and somehow managed to grab onto the back of the 4-wheeler and slow it down right as he hit a tree head on. Honestly, I don't really remember even acting on that one, so I'm not sure what I did. I did have multiple scratches, scrapes and bruises for a few days afterwards.

My son has given me bloody noses and black eyes from slamming the back of his head into my face when he was sitting on my lap.

My daughter went to jump into my arms and misjudged the distance and stuck her finger in my eye. Scratched it and it got infected. That was almost 2 years ago and I still flinch if I forget and rub that eye.

Have to agree with Laeh. Mine are not teens yet ,but I swear my daughter is one in her mind already. She can have quite the mouth if provoked and is learning the "mean" girl talk already!

This didn't happen to me but to a friend of mine. He was delivering some wood to my parent's house for them and my son went running for him and ran straight into his "manly area". He doubled over, lurched a few steps and threw up!

When Andy went through night terrors I got four black eyes from trying to keep him from hurting himself flailing as he was. That is why when I read here junior wakes up whimpering is this night terrors I am all over it with heck no!

No biting but I refused to breast feed once they had teeth, that just seemed like asking for trouble. :p

Kicking was a big deal because I have such bad knees. :(

I throw away legos when they bite my feet. Honestly? Can't they round the corners on those things, just a bit?

Most of my spectacular injuries were made playing with the kids because I haven't quite mastered that growing up bit of parenthood. Since they didn't actually contact with my body I can't really put those on them.

A few months ago my son (22 months now) took a swan dive off the back of the couch, and his thick skull went right into my spine... I immediately lost my breathe, checked on him (little stinker thought it was funny), and when I tried to stand up, I fell over.

Went to the doctor the next day because it hurt so bad to breathe... he bruised the INSIDE side of my spine, and the bruise was pushing against my diaphragm, causing the pain. It took me weeks to recover... it still acts up sometimes!!

My mom's cousin was kicked in the eye by her grandson (and, yes, it was during a FIT) and she has lost most o the vision in that eye.

Here...the usual...eye pokes, hair pulling, stepping on Legos or Hot Wheels, etc.

I don't remember any terribly interesting battle scars. I've just had the usual - hair pulled, eyes poked, being bitten. When I was a kid, I left a pencil on the couch, stuck between the cushions and pointing up at an angle. My mom sat on it and it poked a hole in her rear end. I felt terrible.

I get bumps and bruises. But one time she was on my lap facing away from me and wacked me in the face. She not only broke the crown on my tooth but the post that held it. I was without my front tooth for almost a week. Not painful but very embarrassing.

Well the 1st one that comes to mind was when I had my 2nd daughter. During a contraction she either punched or kicked me, damaged my bladder and I had to wear a catheter for 3 weeks. NOT FUN! lol
I was starting to think I would never pee on my own again. lol
Thank God I healed!

Flippin' legos. The bane of my husband's existence. I swear, if there is even ONE lego laying in the middle of the floor, my husband will find it with his feet. He's like the lego detector - post injury. He HOWLS each time and I'll run in, "What HAPPENED"? As though he's got a severed artery, "I stepped on a lego". "Oh. A lego."

Truth be told, I don't need much help injuring myself. I do a great job banging into stuff all by myself ;-)

You know the worst sensation though? I have a mole in between my breasts. When my daughter was but a WEE one, she would (eyes closed) be nursing and somehow her raiser sharp nails would DIG into that mole. Every time. Every few hours. It's not a broken bone...but it's like a splinter under nails. Just icky feeling.

I (stupidly) picked up my niece hours after having given birth. Ouch. Think that might come back to haunt me in a few years. Then there are elbows in my eyes, knees in my tummy, dropped objects on my toes. But like I say, I'd accedently put an elbow in my eye if it could reach.

I guess I'm lucky. Worst injury has been a split lip from one of the twins. I think they were only 10 months at the time. Hurt like the dickens though!

sprained fingers, steps on my sensitive toes, sore and tender palms, a few bloody noses and fat lips. Since i wear glasses i try to be cautious and protective of my face and grew up with aggressive siblings so make sure i have the extra padding or get out of the way rather than catch/stop an inanimate object.

My son only bit me 1x, i bit him back and that was the end of that.

Wow that is tragically funny. Your family should suit up in protective gear every morning. I don't have anything that comes close. Just your average bruises from walking into or tripping over toys in the dark.

Aside from my permanent nerve damage from my c-sections, the worst thing so far was a broken toe and sprained ankle thanks to child number 1. Child number 2 gave me a fat lip a few days ago via a well placed headbutt. That same day she kicked her dad in the balls hard enough that he had to sit down for a while. Neither of those things was purposeful. Legos are the bane of my feet. Otherwise, just the normal bumps and bruises and the occasional earring pull.

Broke my big toe by tripping over a toy school bus all while holding an infant.
Cracked nose (head butt, that felt great)
Torn up heels from daughter ramming me with the shopping cart from behind. I had blood all over in my shoes.
Yes, many lego mishaps on my feet.
Many, scratches that drew blood from little fingernails that are too long.
Oh, another head butt incident caused my two front teeth to become loose.

I'm sure I have plenty more, we do take a lot of beating once you sit down and think about it;)

My worst is similar to yours--I was bending over her head from a chair while my daughter was playing on the floor, and then she stood up quickly. My first black eye of my life, which lasted a good week, and permanent "floaters" on my eye--little black lines as I use my eye. Three visits to the specialist eye doctor. And I still love her! :)

Hahahaha...Someone should put you on the stage, that would be a funny comedy act. I know you're not serious!

Update~I'm so sorry, R., (and others) I seriously didn't mean to offend. When I got back on the computer today, I read the responses, which I didn't this morning. I honestly thought you were joking because it was really cracking me up. Obviously, I was wrong! :(

I think I've had my hair sat on a few times (it used to be down to my knees), but I know I've not had any of that other stuff happen by way of my children.

Again, I apologize,
Mary
