Inflamed Yeast Infection. (In Pain)

Really embarrassed to ask this question, but it hurts too much not to get some advice.

I went to GYN to confirm a yeast infection. He stated that the vaginal wall is really inflamed with the yeast infection. He gave me oral medication (fungal) and cream to insert nightly for 7 nights.

Question: Do you have any suggestions to help make me comfortable? It hurts to sit, especially at the office at the desk. Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated.

What can I do next?

I was going to say the same thing as Jennifer - did you GYN suggest ibuprofen or other pain reliever?

Well, I know that Monistat for example comes with a topical cream, I mean that you rub on externally, not insert. Maybe try that? I've tried it, it's pretty soothing. Maybe call the nurses line first?

You should be able to put the cream on the inflamed area. Just wear a maxi pad so it a) doesn't soak through your panties and b) so it stays pressed up against the area.

Plain yogurt can also help.

Sorry - I know you are miserable.

Won't work at the office but when you get home take a bath with 1 cup plain yogurt added to your bath water.
Or just apply the yogurt directly.
The medicine should kick in soon and you'll be feeling better pretty quickly.

First good god woman call your doctor back and have him reassess the situation. A yeast infection even a really bad one with medication should feel a 100% better within 2days. If your doctor brushes you off go to the emergency room or an urgent care. Doctors don't know everything and you shouldn't be in that kind of pain!

How miserable!

I have mixed some of the medication with a bit of zinc oxide and gently rubbed on external irritated area.

I hope your work day goes really fast and you find relief soon :-).

ETA: sorry misunderstood your question. I thought you meant external pain. I would try the Tylenol/ibuprofen. Hope you feel better soon!

Yeast infections suck! I feel your pain. The oral meds and cream work pretty quickly. Monistat has an external cream you can apply along with the inserts. It helps with the external itching and burning. In the meantime, sitting in a tub of cool water helps also.
