Have you ever had that feeling when you have eaten too much and you feel like you are either going to puke or explode or like you have to go to the bathroom or maybe just crawl in a hole and die? Well I am a little over 9 weeks pregnant and I constantly feel this way. Currently I feel like I am full to the max and need to throw up and I have barely eaten anything - what gives? I was given a perscription for something to help with the pukey barfy feeling but I really dont want to take anything, especially since this drug is suppose to make you sleepy which I really dont need anymore of - I am always tired as well. I know that feeling or being nauseous is one of the most common side effects to being pregnant but has anyone else experienced this? I think sometimes the pukey feeling is brought on by gas and that I just need to burp it out but of course just my luck I have no clue how to burp so I just sit here and suffer. Please help if you have any advice
Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

sounds like morning sickness which I had for three months with my daughter (it was bad!) and three months with this baby to come. I would take the medicine. I haven't had anyone tell me that's taken it that it's made them real sleepy so you might be okay. Have you tried drinking Sprite and eating Saltines when you have this feeling or even Ginger ale? Either helped me a lot! Good luck and hopefully it only lasts a few more months. Congrats on pregnancy. :)

Those are all very common pregnancy side effects. I had them the entire 9 months with my first. I had that same prescription (phenegran it sounds like) and it didn't even work. Zofran is much better, ask for that, I tried every natural therapy and none of them worked for me. The generic name is Ondansetron.

Lots of great advice for dealing with nausea here:

You can try some tums-they are pretty benign. Also, try things like Lemonheads candy-the sour really helps with that green around the gills feeling. They saved my life with my 2nd pregnancy.

You can also try the ginger that you get in sushi restaurants. It's pickled. Just tiny little nibbles really helped settle my tummy too.

When I was pregnant with my last child, I was nauseas around the clock. So, when I went to the doctors the next time around she suggested I take Unisom (a sleeping aid, that you take at night before you go to bed) and that helped tremendously. It totally got rid of the nausea during the day, and it helped me sleep at night and did NOT in anyway shape or form harm the baby. I hope this helped! Congratulations and good luck!

Oh yes...that pukey feeling was a constant every evening for me during my first trimester. I used a bunch of methods depending on what triggered the nausea. If it was smell related, I sprayed lavender and breathed it in. If I felt like it was my stomach- I ate goldfish crackers. If it was gas, I ate a papaya pill, which is a natural way to take care of gas issues.

You have to figure out what works for you- but there are many, many natural options to minimize the nausea as much as possible.

Good luck!!!

I feel your pain! Hopefully this will just be a first trimester thing for you. My answers are to eat light, chew well, and take simple antiacids, like tums. Try to stay away from the heavy duty meds, and sleep as much as you can.

I used to feel like puking if I didn't eat anything ... and well I had to eat every 1.5 hrs atleast. It was very difficult because I didn't have any appetite and really didn't feel like eating anything at all. I used to force myself to eat meals every couple hrs - I felt much better with a full tummy. And the days when I just couldn't eat , I would end up throwing up all evening. I know you can take Tums while pregant for gas. If you have morning sickeness, eat something as soon as you wake up. preferably even before you get out of bed. Saltine crackers are good - I used to feel better if I eat atleast a few so that my tummy's not empty. I couldn't tolerate milk , but if you can maybe have your hubby or someone bring milk for you in bed. I know it's difficult, but keep eating something every few hrs and drink plenty of water. It helps!

That wonderful feeling is due to the increase of progesterone. That is healthy. Unfortunately it can last months. I suggest you drink seltzer and learn how to burp. It may or may not help. But at least you know your healthy. Good luck. PS I wouldnt take the drugs unless you start to puke and dehydrate.

Like Momma L I had nausea the entire pregnancy (with both my pregnancies). With the first one, I managed to just endure it and deal. Not easy, but I only had to worry about myself. With the second, I had a 2 yr old running around and it was worse than the first time so I HAD to do something. I couldn't use any of the things that cause drowsiness--or I likely would have had the house burned down around me, lol (2 yr old boys can get into a lot if you don't keep an eye on them every second and are too sick to move fast enough to catch them, lol). I also was offered and took Zofran. It was a miracle for us. And no drowsy side effects. :)

First off toss the phenegran (what i'm assuming he gave you) and ask for Zofran, same cost and it's a sublingual tablet, no side effects and works instantly. I'm 18 weeks and have complicated migraines so if not for Zofran I'd puke 24/7. The fullness feeling will just get worse sorry to say.. it may be morning sickness but I have to say mine was from my stomach just being small (eating small portions for the last year) so I'm taking my time, I eat tiny meals but I asked the Dr. and I'm getting enough nutrients and calories for now so I'm just not going to worry about it. Eventually my stomach will stretch back out and the feeling will get better but then thats when you start packing on the pounds. Try some beano or tums for the burping stuff.. it'll help get rid of the gas and bring a little relief, I know for sure tums works check the beano label for use during pregnancy. As for your title of losing your mind... be prepared for it to stay lost for the next couple of years :) Good luck!!
