I am starting to feel as mayb i am somehow to blame for this but I know I cant cause it unless it can be herateory .. Can someone please help me try to think of as what I can do to maybe help prevent or not get as many? I also feel as to her being on so much antibotics it will end up injuring her organs..?

So What Happened?

Well I will start out by saying thanks to all who responded to my worries.. I will first start out by saying she is seeing a sepclist and she had several test done to her , i am giving her showers instead of bathes she only wears cotton undies .. i have bought her gaterade thinking that will help her on her dehydration ( doctors say thats fine) .. One thing I dont get is that they say it is or also could be her not going bm as much as she should be?? I was thinking of calling a urologist thing that they might be able to help but not sure.. She is on a prevention medication , well this will be her second attempt at taking it but not sure how it will work..
But again thanks for responding to my question ..

I would contact your insurance company and speak w/the nurse on call to see who they can refer you to from here. Or even contact your pediatrician to see where you can go. My 7 yr old daughter has had a few uti's as has my 13 yr old - a lot of times girls are shy about going to the bathroom in school b/c they are gross and they end up w/the infections. I have tried to remind my daughter to go to the bathroom while at home as well. Otherwise there are times she'll just not go because she's too involved in anything else, but having to go to the bathroom. Good luck!

I am assuming she has been worked up by a urologist. If she has not,
get her to one as soon as possible before there is permanent damage to
her kidneys.

Has she been checked for kidney stones? The reason I ask is because this was me about 6 years ago. I kept having reoccuring infections for months and finally when to see a urologist. They did and IVP where they inject dye and xray the unrinary tract. As it turned out I did not have stones but crystals in my kidneys that would have turned out to be stones. Since having them removed ( surgically) and drinking plenty of fluids and taking a cranberry supplent I have not had any issues.
If it not a kidney issue her baldder could be slightly tilted making it harder for her to completly empty her bladder when she does urinate. My MIL has this issue. Hope this at least gives you some additional questions to ask your ped but you really need to get her into a urologist as this is their specialty.

Is she wiping from front to back? That's the most basic issue.
Drinking enough liquids?
Cotton panties?
Urinating frequently?

That will all help.

Sometimes when there are multiple infections in a short time, there has not been time for the bladder lining to completely heal making it even easier to get the next infection. ask her doctor about antibiotics long-term (a month supply of a low dose) so her bladder has time to finally heal and get healthy. That's what was happening with my (I was high school age) and it finally broke the cycle.

Good luck!

have they done an ultrasound of her urinary system? she could have a double system. My daughter has 2 of the tubes that go from the bladder to the kidneys. she had alot of infections, and when we moved the new ped sent her for the ultrasound to see what was going on and they discovered this. good luck

T.,
it doesn't seem your daughter is being served well by modern medicine. Pay the extra to go see a naturopathic doctor. UTI's are not normal.

sounds like something in her diet is giving her a reaction - she may be gluten sensitive or gluten intolerant. sometimes this goes all the way down to the chickens producing your eggs being fed SOY.

You might be given an elimination diet to try. Go big or go home. Do it 100% or not at all. Because 99% can be sent down the drain by one small cupcake, and it is heartbreaking.

antibiotics have their place. multiple times as a measure that is ineffective is NOT healthy, and really needs to be addressed instead of sent home again and again.

I only know one in our region - Dr. Laura Sleggs, a very nice person! She is out of Geneseo but is in Rochester in an office now. You can check her website. Or look for one near you.

good luck,
M.

Her being on antibiotics that much will just make the infections resistant and her susceptible to other illnesses. Look up some natural preventatives and get her to an OB/GYN yes, she's young but she's having issues down there. I went to school with a girl that had this and she was going to an OB from like the age of 7 or 8 and it helped manage it. Some people are just built different and things work or don't work the way they should. Have you seen a specialist yet?

Anti-biotics won't injure her organs, but they will cause other issues. Has your pediatrician not discussed the overall issue with you? Then ask.

Wet bathing suits and all kinds of other issues can cause this, as can poor hygiene and an overly short urethra. You need to have a discussion about this with your pediatrician. And yes, it can be hereditary but that does not mean you are to blame.

Wiping properly, not staying in wet suits, going often and staying hydrated, and have her sleep with no bottoms on let the whole area dry out.

Talk to your pediatrician.
