IKEA Beds-Mattresses

I have a standard king sized mattress with a pillowtop, but no bed. I love my mattress and really don't want to buy another one.

I really like the way IKEA's Malm bed looks, but I wonder if I could use my mattress with it or if I HAVE to buy one of their mattresses to make it work. Does anyone know?

What can I do next?

We have an Ikea bed frame and we purchased our mattress from Gallery Furniture. As far as I know, you can use any mattress with their beds. We have had our bed frame from there for almost 10 years and it is still as nice as the day we purchased it.

I have the Malm bedframe and it is great, you can use your own mattress. You will need to buy the bed slates and the mid beam also.

I have the Malm bed twin for my 3 yr old. I really like it. First i tried it with just the mattress and it works great. It has slats all the way down for support. My 3 yr old thought it was too short so I put the box spring on the other day and it works great. I say try what you have and if you need to you can purchase their mattress. Mine works just fine. You might want to measure you mattress and then measure the frame of the bed before you buy.

No, you don't have to buy the matress with it. It all comes seperately. The beds are actually pretty cool, the only thing, depending on the matress etc, i'm not sure if the measurements add up the same.

You can definitely use the same mattress. We have the Anaboda bed from IKEA, which is very similar. Your mattress will just sit on top of a set of wooden slats, instead of a box spring. HTH

Hi. I used to be an Office Manager for a major furniture store here in Austin. And I also love that bed you are talking about at IKEA. No you don't have to by another mattress. You can either leave your boxspring on that new bed and the mattress or with the platform beds you can use just your mattress. If you have any question send me a personal message and I will tell you more. Also you can buy bunkie boards which are just like box springs but are only 2inches think and it will make your bed not so high as with a normal box spring which are 4 1/2 and 8 inch tall.
