A Malibu beach house would be AMAZING!

But so would a pad in Santa Barbara!

Or an old plantation in Georgia w/ the weeping willow-lined driveway!

*I grew up in Ca and had family w/a beach house in Malibu....talk about amazing childhood memories...secretly I always wished they would adopt me and I could spend more than the month that we stayed in the summers growing up!

I wouldn't live anywhere but Texas, but wouldn't mind having a lake house with a boat dock.
Like you, I have traveled a bit and want to do more.

I know exactly where I'd live... I just don't know where that place is!

Small town (really small), on a train line to a big city (for the best of each)
Mountains w/ snow w/in 2 hours in one direction (for snowboarding)
Sea w/surf w/in 2 hours in another direction (for surfing)
Hot Summers
Cold Winters (or at least sunny ones, w/ snow in those mountains)
No alligators or crocodiles
English optional

So far that's either N. Italy, South Island Enzedd, or (I'm told) New Jersey.

I've spent most of my life in deserts and jungles, and travelled over half the world. I haven't found "home" yet, except that home is wherever my pillow is. I'm here for now, but wherever I end up, I have the kind of family which will gladly come visit, and have me visit in return. I can live anywhere. It's just finding it.

Paris, France. I've lived there before. Beautiful, inspiring, cosmopolitan, international, intelligent people everywhere, delicious food, you can walk and walk and walk and walk some more and never run out of beauty to behold. If you need medical attention: voila. Available at very little cost even to foreigners. I'd give anything to enroll my kids in French preschool and school.

For all different reasons I'd like to move to Berlin, but have not been there. I did live in Germany for four years and LOVED it.

Aw heck. If money is no object, London will do, but I would prefer a foreign language for the kids. And actually, subtracting language form the equation, back to NYC would be awesome too.

So my ideal place exists in real life.....but would take a miracle and a million or so dollars to make into my reality.....but hey I am still allowed to dream, right?

Northern California.....Over looking the water but up on a hill side where the grass is really long....I want to have a old farm house lay out with modern flare.....I want to have a living room that has walls that open garage door style, into the yard(front and back)...We are big on ''living outside'' when the weather is amazing...so this would keep our home open and turn our living room into the outdoors......I also want to have the first floor be the kitchen/living room and recreational area.....The couches would be huge round permanent fixtures in the room.....That you can lay on, sit on you name it....They would be well cushioned for comfort.

The rest of the house would be just as open....Lofty. There would be bedrooms and what not but on a very open floor plan.

Boys would be able to have as much space as they wanted to do what they wanted.

I would foresee a rope swing or tire swing and a tree house.

When I close my eyes I envision the sunrise's and sunsets we would watch.....And how they would smell over the water....IF you have ever lived on or near the Ocean you can start to make out the smells of each.....And it is comforting.

I want to be able to grow my own food on my land as well. Be as self doing as possible for everything.

This vision in some fashion is on my bucket list.

I may never get the cool house, but this is where and how my hubby and I want to grow old together. Just getting to enjoy each other and being alive.

I want things to be simple. Somewhere quiet.

Kauai for the year round warm weather. We would have o buy a large house for all the extended visitors that say they want to come for 6 months at a time.

All the Americans I know did well living in Europe BUT they ended up missing "home" a lot after some time, especially during crucial times in their lives, such as having kids or similar. A woman I know, in particular, seemed to really get homesick during those holidays which are especially American (Halloween,Thanksgiving, 4th of July) and during Christmas - she told me her toddler was missing the experience of those "staples" representing america such as trick or treating, turkey, christmas carols etc...America is so big and diverse, I think an american can really find her perfect place somewhere in her homecountry and still enjoy her beloved traditions. Just my opinion. As of me, I just LOVE where I am and it happens to be my homecountry.

I would love to live in the high Sierras, in a cabin by a pristine lake. Hot summers, cold winters, always beautiful :-)

We are in Plano, TX which is a northern burb of Dallas. I Love it here.

We choose to live here because It fits our lifestyle, we are within an hour to 2 great airports and can be on either coast within 2 hours. We love great 5 star restaurants, concerts, sporting events, etc (although we are not big Cowboy fans, LOL) I have a great network of Dr's, friends, good neighbors, love my house, etc.

Based from another post earlier today, we are well aware of natural disasters and they can happen anywhere at anytime. We choose not to live in fear.

GEES... we fly very often. We have been on 4 (that is correct, 4) emergency landing flights with the fire trucks chasing us down the runway with foam. I do not love flying but I refuse to allow that bit of fear to keep me from exploring other areas of the world. It is not easy to get on a plane again and head home, especially when you have also witnessed grown men crying during a flight in distress.

We also could live anywhere because we run our company from our home. However, we choose to stay here because of the conveniences we have and the location is great for reaching our customers and suppliers.

We've had the opportunity to move and even went as far as house hunting and came back with a no go... can't move.

I LOVE the beach and love to visit often but I love coming back to my Texas home!

i love where i live. i love the four distinct seasons, and i'm happy to see each one. i love most that my family is here.

if i could live anywhere it would be pensacola beach, florida, and my whooole family would move too :) otherwise, no thanks...i'll make do with our (many) visits! lol.

I would live right where I am. I love the changing seasons, I love the friendly people and I love the normalicy of the cost of living here.

What's more, the central location of the Kansas City area makes it so easy to travel anywhere I want to go. I've been fortunate enough to be able to travel all over not only the United States, but many places overseas as well, so I know what is out there. There is no other place I would rather come home to than here!

I always say, I want to live somewhere warm, where it is warm all the time. I just hate the cold, I really do. I have lived in Kansas all my life, and just this year went to Florida, and I thought it was lovely, but of course you should probably visit a place more than once to desire to move there. So I don't exactly know where I would want to move, but somewhere warm for sure!!

I don't know. Washington, D.C. has almost everything I'm wanting - except West Coast beaches...sorry - East Coast beaches don't do much for me...I would like it if there was a ski resort closer than 1.5 hours. When I lived in Upland, it was a 15 minute drive up the hill and I could Mt. Baldy from my bedroom window.

I love San Diego - but it doesn't really get cold enough for me (I know, right?). But it's a BEAUTIFUL city....

I loved loved loved Germany....Belgium was good too...I've not been to Australia YET. So I don't know about that country.

aaaaahhhh...i don't think I could decide. I think I'd like to just be able to move every season!! LOL!!! i'm bill gates and have unlimited funds!!! bbbbwwwwaaaa!!!

I want to move where its warm. Or the coldest is cool. I hate the cold winters of NE Iowa!! I can't stand the snow or the ice, the below zero temps... with out or with out the windchill. ( thankfully we haven't had to deal too much with it so far this winter!)

As long as it didn't get below 40 and very little ice/ snow or preferably no ice or snow I would be happy!

Where we live now is beautiful!! I love the bluffs and hills and rivers along with all of the wildlife around us, I truly do love that... if it didn't have the cold winters where we are at would be perfect! But Im sure we can find some where with just as pretty scenery that was warmer!

Oh and it would have to be in the country... don't even care for this small town business. I want my neighbors to be down the road not right outside my window :)

*** well if money is no object... then I would live here from May- Oct. Then Nov 1st I would move somewhere down south. But in reality, I couldn't afford to live in two places, it sure would be nice though!! Maybe someday!

Since I was born & raised & still live in San Diego, CA I'm not sure. We've talked about Canada but I'm not sure why since we've never been there & know nothing about it lol.

Money is no object? I would live in Hawaii on or as least close to the beach. I love Colorado, but I really dont like to be cold. I know our winters are supposedly "mild" I still dont like them. But, I will probably be singing a different tune in May when the weather is getting warm and I wont want to live anywhere else! LOL!

If I didn't have a great family around here, my hubby and I would be in Scotland in a heartbeat! And I've never even visited there yet! Hubby went for work and fell in love with it! And the people are amazing!

If I had to live somewhere in the US, somewhere in a cabin on a lake in either Colorado or Northern Minnesota. Hubby and I are planning on that when we are older!

Somewhere that has season changes, still gets cool in the evening even in the summer and rains!! I live in dallas tx and its hot as hades and there's nothing pretty to look at, just concrete! I guess like Oregon or Washington. A little cottage he in Connecticut or the side of a mountain somewhere!

If money was no object, I would either live in San Diego, Monterey Bay or in the West Village in Manhattan (if I could afford to buy a house there, with a garage and yard which costs a few million dollars). I'd have to decide which one of those 3 would be perfect...

I love Minneapolis. I live in a city with everything I could need and a beautiful lake right outside my front door. If money were no object, I would be condo/house shopping right on my own street (I rent a condo now).

I would like to live near the water, either a lake or ocean. I would probably choose upstate NY where it is not humid in the summer and it snows during the winter.

I would pick up my entire family and all my besties from my K-12 years (all at the same school), and we'd transplant to San Diego.

Turks and Caicos Island with the ocean as my backyard! I would love to have the windows open and the ocean breeze flowing thru my house all year round. I'm a wanna be Beach Bum and it is 19 degrees here today. :( A girl can dream!

In the us, I still would pick my hometown of Seattle! Especially after yesterday's spectacular sunset :) mild seasons, big city but nice suburbs that are close by. Water everywhere, mountains on either side, and tons of trees. Other than that I would try living in Hawaii, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, coeur d'Alene, charleston sc, austin tx, new york, canada, and maybe some parts of Europe.

I live in St. Louis; it's a great area. In a perfect world, though, I think I'd have a farm in the Ozark Mountains and a cottage on a beach somewhere.

Hard to say. If my husband and kids didn't love skiing so much, I'd love to live someplace where it was warm and green year round. I'd love to never have to wear a jacket or boots or have to de-snow my car. But I also wouldn't want to move farther away from my family, I like being close to NYC, etc. If I didn't do the same kind of job that I do now, in NY, I would lose my pension.

Honestly, I am right where I want to be and feel very, very grateful!

My hubby works in IT and from home and I am a SAHM. We moved last year from PA to Florida (into our vacation home) because we are so tired of the cold weather. I think if there wasn't so much violence in Mexico we would consider moving there, just not in the tourist areas though.
My hubby had traveled all over the world with one of his former jobs and he seems to like Mexico, Brazil and some other countries in South America. The countries that are in the warm climate.

all of my family is in St Louis. I would move back home, closer to StL - but not in it.

my DH's family is in StL & around Jeff City. He would choose Jeff, but not me. His mom is gone....so my connection there is missing. Love his cousins, but prefer to live near my family.

& that brings me to my final answer: I want to live near my family. :)
