I need some help! My husband will be graduating in May. I want to order announcements that will identify his achievements. He has already received his Associates actually he received two the second one was from the Air Force. But needless to say we did not really do anything to celebrate his achievements. Now he will be receiving two Bachelors. I really want and need to do something to recognize his success. And need to spread the word to friends and family. We have been through some hard times since he is in the military. And I feel that it is my duty as a loving wife to recognize him on his success. And to prove to others (family) that with hard work and dedication it will pay off. So I need to find a place that is reasonable that prints college announcements with his University information. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

I want to first Thank each and everyone who has responded. I was amazed from the numerous wonderful ideas. Some I had not thought of and others I did, just not sure how to go about it since I have never done this before. But anyways I did contact my husbands University and they did have a special on their announcements, so I purchased through them. I figured by the time I spent the money on the paper, plus I would have to probably get a new ink cartridge for my printer to print 30+ invites, it would maybe save me money and time to order them through the University. Thank you again for all of those wonderful ideas!

You can actually buy blank card stock cards at Target & print "fancy" type invites on your own printer. If you have Microsoft Word, it is really easy, but any word processing program should work. You can even add the university logo, a graduation hat, etc. When I graduated (at age 28), we simply had family & close friends over (about 20-25 people) & we had cake, pulled pork sandwiches (in crockpot), chips, & had my mom & MIL bring veggie & fruit trays. Also ordered a cake from Marsh. It was easy to do & very laid back, but fun to celebrate. Just some easy ideas (& inexpensive,too!)

My first call would be to his school's book store. They usually have the graduation announcements already, and you can buy as many as you need, and if you want to, order a piece with his name on it that you can personalize it with. We sent them out for my husband when he got his MBA. Why not have an open house/cookout for your family to celebrate after his graduation? You can include a little post card sized note with the announcements inviting everyone to join you.

I agree that you should do it up for your hubby's graduation. It is a huge accomplishment. I have a few suggestions. If you have a computer you can buy a pack of announcements and print them yourself on your own printer. We are always pinching pennies and when my kids graduated I could not afford to have announcements made when my kids had their graduations. I got the announcements at a card outlet... I can't think of the exact name of the place but it is a card place and they sell decorations too. I also bought a few packs of confetti with little caps and the year and sprinkled a few inside each card. People told me they loved opening them and finding the confetti surprise. You may also be able to find the announcements at the dollar store this time of year. If you cannot make them yourself there is this place online that is very reasonable called Vista Print I think it is www.vistaprint.com. I have ordered business items from them and the quality is excellent. If you do decide to go with them pay the extra for the shipping for the time frame that you need. I clicked the cheapest one and it really did take nearly a month to get them. I know things will work out for you, I can tell that you are motivated to find the answers that you need. If you need help let me know. I'm a bit crafty maybe I can help you. I can check out the card shop by me too if you don't have one near you. You may even consider making some handmade cards that would be nice too and you will cherish the memories of making them for him.

Why don't you play around with the computer and do it yourself with just the cost of your paper? I do my own business cards and postcards. I have done birthday card and invitations for years. If you don't have a card program Word is a great help, it even has layouts for b. cards and such. B.
Hi-congrats to your husband...when you graduate, the University has announcements with the official seal on them that you can order. Call the registrars or bursars office and they can help you with that info. Good Luck!

You could just go to an office supply store, Target, a party supply store, ect. and look at the different types of blank announcements that they have and type up your own in Word, or some other program that lets you make crafty things and print them off at home if you have a nice printer.
I have a few friends that always make their own Christmas cards, invitations and the like, and they really do come out good.

You could try printing your own. There are a lot of options available at stores (Walmart, Target, etc) for you to this kind of thing yourself now.
Or if you just want someone else to do it, I would suggest looking into www.vistaprints.com
They usually have pretty reasonable prices on things.

Hi A., not knowing where you live but in Peru Indiana, American Stationary might be able to help you. They print up all kinds of stuff. I have family that work there. I believe you can go online an order, not sure what the website is, but if you type in there name and peru indiana it might come up

Usually any school that he has gone to will have a web site where you can order those kind of things. Check with the school he recieved his degrees from. I recieved an Associated and took the classes online. They had a website for everything including getting a class ring. Hope I have helped. R. in Ohio
Hi A., I run a mom-owned business called Nice Occasions. I do all sorts of invitations and announcements as well as wrapped hershey bars with different designs on them. I am a graphic designer and can do any sort of custom design that you would like possibly including your hubby's photo or a list of his achievements. I have a candy bar design that is specific for graduations if you want that one.
Another thing that my company does is DVD photomontage slideshows. These are so cool for recognizing and celebrating special occasions! I've done them for weddings, birthdays, graduations, etc. They are GREAT to show at a party or just to share between the two of you. Everyone that I've done them for LOVES them. You pick out photos from his life, then I scan them, set them to your choice of music, etc, and make a DVD out of it. It's great because it's something you'll have and can enjoy forever!

I would maybe try doing them yourself if you have a computer. An inexpensive software program and some nice stationary will work really well. Or, you could try a local copy shop like Kinkos. They often have standard announcements that are probably less expensive than from a university but still nice quality. I have been surprised at how professional looking some of mine have turned out on the computer.
And, congrats to you for being such a great support to your hubby! I've been through that as well and I know how tough it can be on you and the kids. Hurrah to all!!
Have you checked with his University? When I graduated, we ordered announcements through the school. Otherwise, you could use something like VistaPrint.com
I work with a woman who has her own printing business, in addition to a travel business if you're looking to book a celebration cruise! Seriously, though, I can recommend her because she is honest, unheard of integrity, and won't hound you if you decide it's not the route you wish to go after speaking with her. In so many situations like these it seems that you can choose to consider personal service - then get harrassed by follow-up calls or impersonal, mass production things that fall on you to suddenly get creative with...

If money is tight, then make your own announcements. You know more of the heart felt work that has gone into all of this. It doesn't have to be expensive or fancy, what matters is what you put down in words.
You could even just use some sort of background on paper then type what you want, all on regular copy paper.
Check out the photo center at your local CVS. I have done announcements through them that actually had a picture of my family and next to it the text of the announcement (you can use any picture). The price was reasonable and they supplied the envelopes too. You can also check Walmart or Target. Another good online source is www.shutterfly.com.
A really cute idea is Hershey's wrappers. Go to this site and check it out: http://wrappedhersheys.com/ My mom actually works for this company and they are awesome.
