D.K.
Time to get her out of the crib, number one there is no safe getting in and out, just takes one bad fall. Then there is the new baby that shouldn't have to sleep anywhere but a crib. My Daughter was really attached to her crib, however, I took her to pick out her own big girl bed spread, sheets and she got to decorate her bed. I got her a fun Elmo bed rail and she was happy!!! The longer you wait the harder it will be to get your daughter out of the crib, believe me. Just explain that she is so big that the crib needs to go to the baby. If you can put it away or put something in it to show her it is gone, I put a blanket over my daughters crib so she couldn't look at it. Just be firm, consistent and don't let her call the shots. It may be about her being a baby longer in her eyes, however all the reassurance from you will help that and she will eventually adjust! DO NOT ASK, just do it, it isn't about her choice right now, it needs to be your choice and she just needs to be happy about it and will eventually. That may sound harsh but if the kids are in different rooms, put the crib up and in the baby's room now and it will be easier before the baby comes, I see your due date has passed however, so not sure if you had the baby or not yet. Stay consistent no matter what kind of fit she pitches, it will pass and she will not be traumatized I promise.
