How to Delete a Question...

S.A. asks from Bremerton, WA

I would like to delte a question that I asked. Tried the help menu with no luck. It seems to have struck some nerves and I already got the answer I needed. Don't want to "make anyone sick", think that my that my post was a joke, think that I'm a "troll" (whatever that is), or make people think my friend is a wierdo because she asked for my placenta. (she's just into the alternative lifestyle, no big deal to me) But of course, I guess it IS strange to ask for something from someone else's body for consumption. In any case, I want to delete the question and stop the negative responses. Thanks! I guess that's the last time I'll post anything like that! lol

What can I do next?

  • Add yourAnswer own comment
  • Ask your own question Add Question

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! :0) I am over thinking it and yes, it will soon be far down the list, so I will just let it go. You guys are great. :0)

I thought it was a great question! It made me laugh how grossed out some people were, considering they eat the flesh and body parts of other mammals all the time.

Honestly, I checked your profile even though I "know" you (there was a duplicate Jo W for awhile that had me über confused)... To see if it was a troll Q.

I'd leave it up.

Just because you WERE serious, and its an out there question.

Does it gross people out?
Yup.

No biggie. Lots of stuff grosses people out. Including the word moist, and breast milk icecream (shudder), and politics, and all sorts.

Up to you, of course.

Hint: when you delete, put an explanation. Otherwise people's imaginations get piqued and you'll get a lot of PMs for months and months wanting to know : What??? What ???

It's okay, S.. Your question was legit and people answered out of there own experience, which meant that some people had NONE. Lol!

I could absolutely see some of my friends making that request of me, so your question didn't seem out of the ordinary to me, in that context, but not all people have that experience.

S., I say let your question stay up and let people learn from it! I personally wouldn't ever consume a placenta or let someone use mine, but now more people know about how other people do things. It's all good!

There is nothing wrong with posting what you did, AND there is nothing wrong with deleting it yourself if you want to. Your choice! :)

First off sorry people got upset about the post. Actually if you google it, it is rather common. Not my cup of tea but to each their own. My Dr. actually asked me if I wanted to keep it with the first. Aftre my look she said I guess not.

There are huge health benefits to eating it but like I said before its not me.

Don't delete it. It actually is a good honest post.

Just leave it. After about a day, it is so far down the list of questions that people will stop seeing it and reading it, and your responses should stop. That was, of course, until you posted this that will draw more attention to it.
Posting "How to delete a question" at the top will draw TONS of attention....

I would just let the original post stand. It is what it is.
But, I would change THIS post's title to something more boring, and maybe even make it not a question, so that perhaps it is deleted altogether for not being a question.....

You are over-thinking this. Just leave it.

It was an odd question, yes. but it was a valid question and doesn't need to be removed.

I guess you could report it yourself or contact ____@____.com to ask them to remove it. But really? why? your question will get pushed down along with all the other questions and soon be forgotten.

You can't MAKE anyone feel or think anything - so don't worry about that. Yes, there will be people out there who think your friend is a freak of nature. Oh well. Stuff happens.

I would not worry about it.
I don't see the responses as negative so much as rather funny in a grossed out kind of way.
Yes, some women DO prepare and consume THEIR OWN placentas.
But consuming one from another person is not typical at all.
The reason why blanking it out doesn't always work is some posters will copy your question into their reply.
Really, in a day or so - it's literally yesterdays news and quickly forgotten.

Ditto Cheryl O.
Just stop reading the responses and move on.
New questions get asked all the time and yours will get pushed further and further down the list. No biggie :)

Copied from your other post, but not sure if you're still going to read those responses: My friend Brenda does placental encapsulation. You can reach her through her work at rainy city midwifery in Seattle!

It is actually very healthy and good for you, some things are weird to some people but who cares? A troll is someone who posts off the wall or silly things to get a reaction out of people, you're definitely not one! Even though you definitely got a reaction, some people here are misinformed and so mean! I'm sorry :(

Dont delete it. That will just make everyone get everyone riled up because you deleted it, and that peaks peoples curiosity more, and usually when someone deletes a question they posted it results in mean and rude comments so I say leave it up and let them say what they like. Dont worry about it :)

Just go in and erase everything that you've written...replace with a punctuation mark or letter or number or anything else.

And hurry up because people are going to read this and rush to look at your question.

So, I had to look up your question to see it for myself. I have heard of people doing various things with placenta...eating it, burying it, etc. so while the question was kind of a shocker, and while your friend is asking you for yours (that seems to be the weird part to me), I really can't imagine I would be as "grossed out" or judgemental as some who posted. That is really the unfortunate thing about this site...you post a question and sometimes are not going to get the type of responses you want. :-/ But, the fact that I had to scroll down a ways should help you feel better that the question is probably not the first one people see :-) Although the heading makes it a "must-read" :-D

Don't let it get to you. Not everyone is going to like what you post. All you have to do is ignore them or tell them to move on to the next question.

Write an email to ____@____.com and see if they will delete it for you. I've seen people get their own threads deleted - I assume that they ask MP to do it for them.

Maybe going around the system itself and sending the email to a live person will get it done.

Good luck,
Dawn
