I can't find any children's bedsheets that fit over a 10 inch mattress... but the mattress I want to get for my son is 12.5 inches... do you think it'll still fit? Is my son's mattress unusually tall??

UPDATE: It's b/c I want to get him a pillowtop mattress and all pillowtops at macys are that tall!! Where did you buy yours? Thanks!

What can I do next?

That seems like a very, very tall mattress. You will have a hard time finding sheets to fit it...if I were you, I'd get a standard mattress and save yourself the hassle of always having to search out specialty sheets. My daughter has a standard twin mattress and it can't be more than six or eight inches thick, but it's a good quality mattress. Even our mattress isn't more than eight inches.

My son's mattress is about 10 inches and it's tough with sheets. Some fit ok, others barely fit. I would try to find a smaller mattress, if I were you.

Go to overstock.com and look for extra deep bedding. Cheap and they will fit. :)

One of my mattresses does not have a pillow top but yet it's cushioned like a pillow top. It's 8 1/2 " tall. It's very comfortable and it's easy to buy sheets that fit. Another mattress, a pillow top, is 10" tall and I buy the more expensive sheets at Goodwill because the sheets I already had did not fit well.. I just purchased a new set that said they were 10 " deep and they still don't fit well.

I bought both of my mattresses at a mattress store. They cost considerably less than at Macy's and are the same brand and quality. I have purchased from Macy's and find my newer ones of comparable value even tho they aren't the premier brand.

A child is light in weight and really doesn't need a thick plush mattress. I'd buy a mattress that has a plush top that is not a pillow top. Like a pillow top you cannot turn it over. I slept on mine for several years and it's still as plush as when I first bought it.

I've struggled with getting sheets that fit for my pillow top mattress. I grew up before there were fitted sheets and can tell you that the bottom sheet does not stay in place.

Just buy flat sheets and dont bother with the fitted. The flats should tuck under just fine, maybe buy "double" bed sized just for the extra fabric?

Wow, that's a thick mattress! We have a 7" and just under 6". You could get a solid color sheet set to coordinate with a themed comforter. Nobody sees the sheets anyway!
