Twin XL Sheets on a Twin Bed?

Just wondering if anyone has tried this? I'm seeing lots of Twin XL sets on cheap clearance and I need a set for a twin bed for about 6 months. So trying to keep it really on the cheaper side. I already looked for resale bed sets, but only finding little kids (disney, nick) and that didn't go over well.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hit Target today to get the Bed in a Bag set - and my Target didn't have any anyway. But got great deals between sales and clearance. Thanks for the input.

Those are dorm bed sheets, dorm beds are longer to accommodate young adults in tight spaces.
You could probably use them on a regular twin but they won't fit quite right and they'll move around a lot.
So all that matters is how important easy, and neat, bed making is to you?

I had to buy that size for my dorm bed in college. The mattresses were about 5 inches longer than on a regular twin bed, so the regular sheets wouldn't fit the mattresses. I'm guessing your twin beds are the regular size, not the XL size, so these would be about 5 inches too long for your beds. Of course too long is manageable. Too short, and they just won't work at all.

I'm sorry - the XL sheets are FIVE INCHES longer than the regular sheets.
Regular twin bed - 39" wide by 75" long.
XL Twin bed - 39" wide by 80" long.

You will find yourself needing to buy sheet clips to keep them down and around the mattress....

I wouldn't do it.

Just look for clearance sales at Bed Bath and Beyond, Marshall's, TJ Max, really any department store. I have gotten sets for $10.

Not a good idea. They will be too long.

I think they would be more trouble than the "deal" you get. You know the saying... "you get what you pay for"

I love Bed Bath and Beyond for sheets and you can get some very good pricing due to the weekly coupon they send out almost weekly.

I've also purchased some good quality cotton sheets at Kohl's as well.

I find regular twin sized sheets that are not children's prints at Goodwill. Just this past week I saw two sets.

you can use the x-long by folding the extra under the mattress.

Please measure your bed.

Our split king size mattresses take the longer sheets and they don't fit a regular twin, well, they are very very loose not only in length but also side to side and slide off all the time.

Plus you need to measure how thick your mattress is. Some are just a few inches thick and others are up to 16" thick. If you don't get the right measurements you'll end up wasting money on sheets that don't fit.

If I only needed it for six months, I would grab the cheapies, and deal with any inconvenience they caused.
If they're too long, you can buy elastics with clips at each end for a couple of bucks.

If you can sew, you can easily make them smaller. If not, forget it because the bottom sheet will not stay in place.

They will be way to big. Not worth the hassle. They are leftovers from kids going to college. Men's dorms usually have XL twins.

I purchased some fabulous sets of 100% cotton sheets at Bed Bath and Beyond.. Cheap with the coupons that come through the mail.. Ikea also sells really inexpensive sheets ion twin sizes.
