I am considering going back to work as a teacher. In the fall I will need daycare for my (then) 2 and 4 year old in the Plainfield/Naperville area. Could you all let me know which daycare facility or Home Daycare provider you use and how much they charge. If you'd like to leave comments about your center or provider, please do!!!! I just want to get a general survey of the cost. If you don't want to leave your home providers name-I understand, but if you'd like to tell how much you pay each week, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much! I really appreciate the help!!

What can I do next?

I use a home daycare in Aurora and pay $120.00 per week for 4 days. If we used the daycare 5 days the cost would be $150.00.

I teach full time and have 4 children under the age of 11. I use a home day care provider. 2 years ago when I had my son (5) and daughter ( 2) with her I paid $150 cash a week for 4 days, sometimes 5 if grandma couldn't make her one day. We have an incredibly flexible schedule with her. She is not licensed - which means that we do not receive any tax credit - so we feel we are allowed to pay her less and she agrees. I am now only paying $120 a week for 4 - 5 days because my daughter is in afternoon preschool. She drives her there and picks her up if I can't make it. We drop her off in the morning around 9ish and I pick her up anytime between 1:30 and 3:30. She feeds her all her meals and snacks - we don't provide any food. We did provide diapers and wipes when my daughter was using them.

The only word of caution with using a home daycare is that you have to make sure there is a fair playing field your kids and the providers own personal kids. Meaning... One daycare that I was with would feed my kids only vegetables for lunch (broccoli, cauliflower and green beans) while her kids ate hot dogs and got all the treats that they wanted. My kids were forced to sit on the couch because they wouldn't eat lunch while her kids ran around and teased them with fruit snacks, cookies, etc. She would then berate them about how wonderful her kids were because if she wanted they would eat the veggies. Needless to say, we left there really quickly. The sad part is that I have know this woman since we were both 14 and she was licensed! Just be really careful about the fairness of treating children when choosing a home daycare. Just to let you know, my kids daycare provider now treats my kids better than I do!

Good luck with your search and your first year back into teaching will be tough but it really is the perfect job to have and to raise kids!

I am a daycare provider. My rate is $145 a week for the first child, (5 days a week), and $125 for the second child. This amount includes all meals & snacks. I also provide a preschool curriculum. I am on the South side of Plainfield. I have heard that daycare on the North end of town is a bit higher.

Depending on what side of Plainfield you are on we use small Wonders on the West side of Bolingbrook. (Near Veterans and Lily Cache) She is wonderful! $175 per week. Remember you get what you pay for. Cheaper is not always better.

We did look into Cynthia's daycare (she responded to you as well) and her place was great the only reason we didn't go with her was location to our home. I would have been late every day picking her up. Not fair to Cynthia. She was great though!
